Wednesday was a day I will never forget. For the last few days on and off, I was feeling a little under the weather. I was not sure what was going on, but just knew I did not feel well. Things changed Wednesday morning. I had went to be Tuesday evening very early for me due to not feeling well. I woke up Wednesday feeling better but not 100%. At around 10:30 AM, I was getting ready to take Josie to swim lessons and I was froze dead in my tracks. The pain I was having in my stomach had now moved to my back and was beyond hurting. Josie ran downstairs to Brent where he was asleep on the couch since he had to work the night before and Josie was in his spot when he got home in our bed. She told Brent "Mommy's sick she needs to go to the hospital. Now!" I could hear her yelling this at Brent and just laughed. Not once did any of those words come out of my mouth other than "Mommy doesn't feel well" when I told her that we were not be able to go to lessons. I guess the seeing me bent over in pain was enough for her.
Brent convinced me to head in to the hospital because he thought I had kidney stones. We got to the hospital at about 11:30 AM. They made me sit in the waiting room for about 15-20 minutes. During this time, I was in and out of the bathroom throwing up because of the pain. Brent told me it was ridiculous I had to wait and was in so much pain and went up to talk to the lady at the desk. Within about 5-10 minutes I was in a room being administered pain medicine. I had blood work done (5 tubes in all), urine sample, and a CT scan. The results were back really quick. The results showed that I did in fact have a kidney stone and high levels of blood in my urine.
They were supper nice to me in the ER. I told the doctor at one point that people compare having kidney stones with having a child. You know this is how women can compare the pain we go through to have their child. Well, I told the doctor that I would rather have a child then a kidney stone any day. You want to know why?
1. With having a child, you get better pain meds so you feel nothing for the most part. Got to love that epidural. I am not saying that vicidine for kidney stones does not do the trick but it is no epidural.
2. With having a child, you get something good at the end (a child). Compared to a stone that has to be taken in and analyzed.
3. With having a child, you know the end of the pain is insight and last for a short amount of time (depending on the person maybe up to 24 hours). With a kidney stone it could take hours, weeks, or even months to pass depending.
I am sure that I can come up with other reasons, but those were the main three. So, they drugged me up again before I lef the ER and was headed home at 2:30 PM. What a really quick trip that was. Got to big doses of pain meds before I left and vicodin to take at home. I was in heaven!
I have to take an anti-biotic due to all the blood in my urine, drink lots of fluids, strain my urine (I know to much information), and take vicodin when needed. The only bad thing is that when on the vicodin I can not feed the little man, so I have to pump and then dump. Hopefully it passes soon. They said it was a 2 and up to 5 is passable, so I am left to do it on my own and follow up with a doctor next week.
Brent just said it was an excuse for him to not play cards, well I would take him playing cards then me having this dumb stone any day.
Josie kept doctoring me all night because I had this bracelet still on and my owie. She would kiss my owie, tell me "everything will be fine sugar pie," get me water, and would rub my back. What a good nurse I have!
