King of the Mushrooms

Man that is one large ice cream cone...oh wait that is a giant mushroom!

With all the rain we have had and some warm weather, the mushrooms are starting to sprout. Brent went out on our property in search of these tasty treats. He ended up finding only one however it can be classified as the King of the Mushrooms. This thing was HUGE! Taller than a soda can and as wide as one too. Can you believe it?

We fried up this shroom. I know most of you are probably like why all the mess for one shroom why not wait a day and see if you can find any more. Well, this shroom was so large that it was cut into four large pieces. We cut it in half and then half again. We each had two pieces. Oh, were they good.

There are so many different ways to fry up shrooms. What is your method? Some people use flour, flour and crackers, or just crackers, while some people use oil and some people use butter. My favorite method is butter and crackers only. They are so yummy that way.

Perhaps today we can find the Queen of Mushrooms!

Bath Time!

Ogdan is not one that so far has been fond of his bath. Why I am not to sure. I keep him warm to the best of my ability, but for some reason he just simply did not seem to like it and cried through this entire bath time. Well, I am happy to announce that the crying stage is over. Now, he kindly sits there and relaxes in his warm tub. He likes to stare at the faucet while be gets all soaped up. Yeah! Josie loved her bath and I think that is what is starting to happen with him. Soon he will be splashing around getting us all wet. I can't wait!

He loves it when you rub his head!

So Serious

Ogdan has many different faces now that he likes to display at varies times of the day. Some are happy, some are sad, some are mad, and this one shown about some are so serious. This face does not fit him. He is such a happy, bubbly baby now that this face just is not him.

Each time I see this photo it just makes me laugh.

2 Months Old

Can you believe that our little guy is already 2 months old?! Well, actually he is now 10 weeks old. Man, does time fly. Last week, we venutured to the doctors for his 2 month appointment. He was such a flirt. He was smiling and all happy until the dreaded time for shots. He had to get a total of 3 shots. One in one leg and two in the other. Josie was his coach helping him through all of it. After we saw the doctor and he answered our questions and left the room, Josie gave him a break-down of what was going to happen. Telling him everything was going to be just fine and don't worry about it. She kept reminding him of this the entire time the shots were being administered to him. What a sweet big sister!

So, how does our "Little Man" check in at:

Head - 38.8 cm - 21%-tile (grew around 3 cm)
Height - 22 1/2 inches - 30%-tile (Grew just shy of 2 inches)
Weight - 10 pounds 10 ounces - 22%-tile (He gained just shy of 3 pounds since his 2 week check up.)

He is right on target and growing strong.

First Trip to the Farm

Over the weekend, the entire clan ventured out of town to the farm to find the precious mushrooms. The weather was not all that good, rainy and gross. However, that did not stop us from looking high and low. Josie looked only where there was a beaten path. She did not like making her own way around in the woods.

So, what did Ogdan do? You know what he does best during the day SLEEP. He crashed out on the bed. The bugs were bad out and since it was gross outside, he stayed inside the entire time. Not a good way to spend his first trip, but what can a 2 month old do right?!

Blowing bubbles with Grandpa

Blake asked Josie if she wanted to go fishing and of course she said yes. They started walking down to the pond and then she quickly turned around and ran back to get her Daddy to come with. He told her to wait a minute, but she is not very patient so she started to walk without him. When she got past the cars where she left Blake she turned around and stated "HUH! Blake left me!!!" All with her hands on her little hips. So, off she started to walk all by herself. She walked down the path and stopped where you turn to go to the pond. However, for some reason she did not turn and kept going straight. I stood at the end of the path and watched her as she walked waiting for her to turn around and come back. However, she is so independent now that she did not. Brent quickly went and caught up with her and yelled for her to return from the pond turn. Minutes later she came walking back up and then turned. Later, I asked her why she went straight and her response was "I wanted to go the long way." What a brave little girl.

New Toy

I recently purchased this new toy for Ogdan. He loves it! It is a newborn to toddler rocker. It converts as the kids grow. The best part about it is that Josie can still us it and it is portable. I purchased it that way when we go on vacation this summer and to the farm I can take it along since it is portable. Ogdan has only had it for a few days and loves to sit in it. I sit him up in it and he swats at the toys. Man he is getting big to want to play with toys already. Before I know it he will be rolling over and sitting up.

He has excellent head controll now and when on his tummy sometimes uses his hands to help push himself up. Getting to big to fast.

Earning Her Keep

Josie helping out Mommy do a little Spring Cleaning

With the Spring brings the dreaded...I know most of you are probably thinking rain, well no. I am talking about Spring Cleaning. I have to say that I like a clean house, but I do not like cleaning it. As most of you can tell, my house is always a disaster. It never fails I clean one room spotless and move to the next and turn around and my tornado of a daughter has destroyed my hard work in a matter of seconds. No really seconds just as Brent. I have been off now for 8 weeks with my little man and just now am starting to do the dreaded Spring Cleaning. Yesterday, I worked on the kitchen. I took everything out of each and every cabinet and wiped them all clean. Man did that take forever. And even dusted the upstairs living room. Brent's response was why have you waited so long to start since I go back to work in 3 1/2 weeks. (But at least I only have to work for 3 weeks then get the Summer off. YEAH!!) My response was I just gave birth even though everything went better then expected and much easier I milked out the line "the doctor said no over doing it and I will see you at 6 weeks to release you." So, I have been released so now the work begins. YUCK!

Some of you may say, well you cleaned your in-laws. And to all of you I have one thing to say "I GOT PAID TO DO IT!" If someone wants to pay me $20 an hour to clean my own house then heck yeah my house would be spotless.

The reason why I hate to clean so much is because one second the house is clean and 2 minutes later it is not. The dreaded cycle. Just like the spend hours on dinner and in 10 minutes all you have left is the clean up.

So, even though I hate to clean Josie loves to vacuum. She volunteered to help Mommy do a little cleaning so she swept the kitchen floor and vacuumed the living room. What a good helper! This was after I made her play in her room because the house was semi clean. All I can say is she took out not being able to play in the kitchen and living room out on her bedroom. What a huge mess it is!

I would love to have enough money to invest in a full time maid. You know one that picks up everything and I don't have to. I know like that will ever have to. So those people that have maids I envy you. But, who needs a maid when you have children..right???

Got You!

Josie loves her bath time you all know that. So, I have to tell all of you this story that will bring a smile to your face and a huge laugh. I was giving her a bath the other night as usual. She was having her normal good old time playing in the water, splashing around, being crazy(as usual). We have a shower head that you can take off and wash your hair while sitting down. You know those kinds of shower heads with the cord. Well anyways, I got the shower head down and washed her hair and rinsed her off. She wanted to hold it so I said ok. She is becoming more independent, so she wanted to rinse herself off. She was spraying her tummy, toes, etc. I told her that I was going to get the towel and it was ready to get out. I kindly reminded her to keep the water spraying in the tub, so that we do not get the floor wet and slip and fall when it is time to get out. She stated "ok mom...I won't." I turned around from grabbing the towel got the wrath of the hose. Josie had the shower head turned to me and was spraying me in the face with the hose. She was laughing up a storm thinking it was so funny to get Mommy soaking wet. Here I am screaming and laughing at the same time for Josie to put the hose down, but all she could do was laugh even harder. I eventually was able to get the hose from her dying of laughing self. I was wet from head to toe, but at least we all got a good laugh out of it. I could not believe that she did that. When I asked her why she got Mommy all wet her response was "cause...that was really funny. You made me laugh!" What a stinker! So, when she called Brent to tell him goodnight that of course was what she had to tell him and laughed as she was telling her story.

What a little heathen she has become. She must take after her father.

Redneck or Die Hard Fisherman?

I could not help but crack up at the sight of this. I was driving home from church last weekend (it has been that long since I really downloaded photos and posted...sorry) and got stuck behind this wonderful sight. We were traveling at about 20 miles per hour down a 2 lane highway on a Sunday. I remembered that I have been keeping my small camera in my purse lately so out I pulled it and was able to get a photo of this wonderful sight.

I thought I would share this wonderful sight with you which made me get a huge smile on my face and a huge chuckle out of it. All I can say is either they are totally 100% REDNECKS or 100% DIE HARD FISHERMAN. What do you think??

Yes, that is right your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That is a fishing boat sitting directly on top of a van.

Redneck?? Die Hard Fisherman? That is the question at hand. Post a comment to this posting to let us know which you think that this is.

Couch Potato

What do you do after a long day of playing outside enjoying the nice weather??? Crash out on the couch of course. Josie got this little mini couch for her first birthday that she absolutely loves even to this day. Well, we found out that Ogdan also really enjoys this couch. He takes the occasional naps on it, rests on it, and even tells Mommy about his day on it. When Josie saw him sitting on it she quickly made him get up because she wanted to be the couch potato. I have a feeling that in the future they will be fiting over the couch potato spot. Well, maybe not. Josie will more than likely be fitting Daddy for his spot I think is more like it.

Mommy's Little Monkey

Man this boy is going to be a heart breaker. The smiles are slowly starting to come out more and more. So, watch out soon I will get very camera happy.

OMG! Look at that pathetic face. He is trying to get Mommy to cave into him and it worked. Well, just look at that sad face.

Bunny Day

It has been one of those weeks. One that flies by and does not go as smoothly as planned. Here are some photos that were taken last weekend on Easter. The kids and I ventured in to meet Grandma Grace at church. This was the first time that we have been to church since Ogdan has been born. So, it was his very first outing there. He did excellent. He slept the entire time and was adorable. Josie loved showing off her little brother. She made sure she announced to everyone that it was HER BROTHER!

Flu...Yuck!

I know most of you probably thought that I have fallen off the face of the earth due to the lack of posts this week. I have lots to post about and photos to share, however, I have been under the weather to do so. This week I have had the dreaded flu a few days and today is not any different. I absolutely hate the feeling of being ill and not having the energy, stomach, or anything to play hard with my children. The other day was horrible. Brent came home from work to find me buried with my head in the toilet and sleeping on the bathroom floor. Lets just say it was a very bad day here in our house. Brent tried to help, but needed sleep due to working all night. So, it is hard to be a very sick mom, take care of 2 kids and try to let your husband get some sleep. I do not know how we survived the day or let me say I survived the day, but we did. On top of that, since I was feeling better not 100% I ventured into work in the evening only because I was interviewing potential co-workers for next year. Lets just say I was there.

This week if I am better, I promise to catch all of you up on things here at our house.

I hope everyone else if feeling better and this dreaded bug that is going around does not hit your house.

Watch Out Here We Come!

What can we say about Spring?!? Spring is a wonderful time of the year, one in which most people love. With Spring brings one of the most wonderful, precious things on earth. Well, what on earth am I talking about you may ask?

MUSHROOMS!

Mushrooms are a treasure to some and is definately worth fighting for. Brent thought perhaps he would take a little stroll through the woods behind the house just to see if perhaps they were coming up yet since we had all of this warm weather and rain.

HE STROCK MUSHROOM GOLD!

He only found one, one tiny one, but hey at least he found one. So, get on your hiking boots and get ready to start your journey. Mushroom season is on the rise and we are all geared up for the fight. The fight to find and eat all that we can.

Mushrooms...watch out so here we come!

EGGS!

It would definitely not be Easter time without coloring Easter Eggs. So, Josie got on her painting apron and coloring eggs we went. It was so much fun. She can not hold the eggs in the color to make two toned eggs yet. So, we would put them in one color and then then move them to a different color to make funky shades. One even turned out to be kind of camouflaged. It was pretty neat!

Ogdan sat there in Daddy's arms and observed as Josie told him how to do it. It was like a mini lecture she was giving. Next year, he will be all over the egg coloring thing.

Now what do you do Josie?

Kind of like watching paint dry

Now can we eat my masterpieces?

How do they look?
