3rd Birthday Party

On Saturday, we celebrated Josie turning 3 with a party. It was a picnic theme, since Josie loves picnics and watermelon. I made a watermelon cake and watermelon cookies to go with the theme. I was pretty proud of myself with the cake. I have never in my life taken any type of cake decorating or baking class and for having no experience I again pat myself on the back. The cake was a 3-tiered 15 inch long cake. It was pretty heavy. If you can remember for Josie's 1st birthday she had a caterpillar cake and her 2nd birthday a pair of sandals, shoe box and high heals. It was perfect for here. She would announce to everyone weeks before her party that she was having a watermelon party with a watermelon cake. I was so happy she like it. I have to say it was pretty tasty. Since it was the picnic theme, we enjoyed all the picnic types of foods, fried chicken, pasta salad, coleslaw, potato salad, cucumber salad, chips, watermelon, other fruits, and freshly squeezed lemonade. It was pretty tasty. Josie had a blast at her party and we hope you did also. I will be posting more pictures of her birthday party soon, but here are a few.

6 Month Check Up

Today, Ogdan had his 6 month doctors appointment. He of course Brent said was a good boy and only cried for a few minutes after getting 3 shots. Josie tried to calm his fears by singing to him and kissing his owies to make them feel better. She kept doing this every time he would fuss tonight. What a good big sister!

Head - 44 cm - 53%-tile (grew around about 2 cm in 2 months)
Height - 26 inches - 29%-tile (Grew just shy of 3/4 inches in 2 months)
Weight - 16 pounds 14 ounces - 34%-tile (he gained about 2 pounds in 2 months) Boys are always bigger than girls and that is true. Right now, he ways 2 pounds heavier than what Josie weighed at 6 months.

We will just have to see what he is like at 9 months old.

Memories Captured

What would a vacation be without photos by the beach. Of course, we had to pick a day that seemed to be really windy, but it was very windy every day, so oh well. The kids were photographed out very quickly, so not a lot of photos turned out. You know with kids you only have their attention for maybe the first 5 minutes then after that just forget it. Here are the best photos that were taken, and there were a lot taken. Man, I want to go back to the beach!

Worn Out

I think it is hillarious that some children fall asleep in the middle of playing. Josie never did that. You know sometimes you hear of children falling asleep at dinner time and end up getting a face full of food. Well, Ogdan fell asleep while playing last week. He was in his jumper that he just LOVES and I would here the music play one minute and not the next. It is set so when he jumps it sings and lights up. I walked into the living room to check on him from the kitchen and I could not believe my eyes. He was asleep! Then seconds later he would wake up jump a few times and the jumping put him right back to sleep. Minutes would pass then the same thing again. I cracked up laughing. I quickly went and got Brent to check it out. He thought it was a hoot! Man it had to be hard standing up sleeping. Poor little man!

6 Months Old

My Little Man is quickly growing he turns 6 months old today. Man, where has the time gone. He is growing like a weed everyday and surprises me with his tricks as well. He has his 6 month doctor appointment next week, so we will have more specifics as to where he is in comparison to other 6 month old kids then. Within the past week he has begun the process of learning how to crawl. Kill me know! He can't crawl yet, he is my little baby boy. He gets his knees up under his chest and and pushes himself up then will begin to rock and then lunge forward. It is only a matter of time until it all clicks. Hopefully, it is later rather than sooner. I mean he is not even on any type of food yet (no cereal, nothing.) That will begin after his doctors appointment, but if you have seen him lately he is not starving by any means. He only eats 4 maybe 5 times a day and is completely satisfied with that.

Ogdan loves tags. If there is a tag on something he always finds it. For instance, he would rather chew on the tag of his toy play mat than play with the mat itself. Figures.

Taste of glory

Ding...Ding...Ding...Round 2!

Back in June, all of you know I had a dreaded kidney stone. It was not fun. When I found out that I had a kidney stone, they informed me that I also had 2 taking it easy in the kidney also. Great, I know. Well, one of those stones has decided to come out and play. I have not been feeling well all week and today I got confirmation that it is indeed a stone on it voyage. I have been in pain all week and taking pain meds like it was my job. The pain comes and goes as it pleases which is very irritating. I made a call to the doctors today to find out what am I suppose to do, just to make sure. They sent me right away to the hospital to have some x-rays done to make sure my kidney was not inflamed since I have been having problems for 4 days. My kidney looks ok, but a stone has dropped. I was given 2 options. 1. Keep taking Vicodine and rest at home or 2. be admitted to control the pain until it passes. I chose #1 that is unless I can not manage my pain on my own. I was hoping to spend some quality time with my kids this week before I have to go back to work next week, you know lay poolside, but that has not happened given the situation. Hopefully, I pass it soon so I can enjoy the weekend.

All Dolled Up

In case you did not know, my father got re-married Saturday. My mother passed away 4 short years ago, even though it seems like yesterday. He felt like he was ready to take that leap of faith all over again. He has gone through a lot of changes in the last 4 years. One change obviously is getting re-married. So, Saturday we all braised ourselves for one of the hardest days of our lives, watching our father begin a new chapter in his life with someone other than Mom. Even though it was one of the toughest days in my life, I am happy for him. I will always be happy for him and the decisions that he makes in his life. I believe that it was just as hard for him as it was for us. I may not have shown my happiness on Saturday for him, but I was on an emotional roller coaster ride. It just became all to real. His new wife (that was hard to say) is a wonderful lady who I have known my entire life. I know that she will make my Dad happy and that is all that matters.

Josie had a blast on Saturday shaking her booty. It was funny to watch her and all of the other children get down with their bad selves. Lets just say they were partied out be the end of the night.

Ogdan just loves Jacob. When Ogdan gets bigger I know they will be partners in crime. Jacob was making him laugh uncontrollably.
