Shake, Rattle, & Roll!

Today, Josie and I ventured out to the Shake, Rattle, & Roll. It was such a beautiful day outside and what a way to spend it. This event is to benefit Parkinson's Disease. Brent's Grandpa and friend both suffer from this condition. We wanted to go and support this good cause, so off we went. Brent had to work, so he could not join in on the fun, so we had fun for him. Josie was a complete little angel all day long. She was as perfect as perfect could be. I think she just loved being outdoor and taking a ride in her stroller. Which today was the first time that we were able to test out our new stroller and we both LOVED it! Big Thanks to Grandpa Dave for getting us the travel system with stroller and car seat. It worked like a charm!

Since, she was such a good girl and she begged me, I gave in to her desire to go to the mall. However, we did not buy anything we still went. We were in search of a Halloween costume, since the first day of October is tomorrow. We could not find a costume however small enough to fit our little petite Josie. We will have to come up with something on our own then. Darn!

How she is growing so fast

I can not believe how much Josie is growing and filling in her little cheeks. I never thought that she was so chubby until I compared these two pictures. The one on the left is from the day she came home from the hospital and the one on the right was taken just a few days ago. She looks so much thinner now even though she weighs more and is not much taller only 1/4 of an inch taller. Oh my how fast she grows.

Bed...What is that?

(Daddy's secret photo of our nightly sleeping spot on the couch)

As you can tell we had a very eventful day from the previous posts of the swing and bath time. Last night, Daddy and I tried to break Josie of a bad habit she has developed though the weeks. What is that habit you ask? She loves to sleep with Mommy or Daddy on her tummy. She is definitely a tummy sleeper, however you can not let children sleep on their tummy's anymore but on their back. Lets just say she hates to sleep on her back. So last night, Brent and I placed her in her crib when she was fast asleep on her back and within minutes she woke up knowing that we were not holding her and on her back. She started to scream and cry and cry and cry. We went in gave her a pacifier and back to bed we went. However, not Miss Josie. She did not like it one bit. She ended up screaming for over an hour when I could not take it any more and I went to rescue her. We have to break her of us holding her in order to sleep I kept saying. I rocked her back to sleep and then back to bed I went again only for the same thing to happen. After 30 minutes of crying, I could not take it anymore and since it was already 2 AM, Josie and I headed yet again for another night of sleeping on the couch.
Last night, marked a very good night however even if it sounded bad. Miss Josie slept on the couch or I should say was good on the couch from around 2 AM until Brent got up this morning around 7:30 AM. Wow, she slept and did not eat for around 5 hours. There were times when I would open my eyes and she would just simply be looking at me. How cute!

Time to Scrub Up!

Little Miss Josie took a bath today! They say that you are only to bath babies 2-3 times a weeks to keep the baby from getting dry skin. So when it is bath time, Mommy and Daddy get excited, because she loves it and so do we. Yeah, it does not sound like much of an eventful day, however she is learning to love bath time more and more as the days pass. She sits in the warm water and relaxes. What a hard day she had.

I Love My Swing!

We put little Josie in her swing when she was just a few days old, however it did not fit the specs of both Mom and Dad. Josie was just small and with her not being able to support her head, her head simply just flopped to the side. Today, however marked a new day and little Miss Josie got yet another try in her swing. We are happy to report that she loves it. In fact, she took a 3 hour nap in her swing today. I think this swing not only has become Josie's next best friend, but possibly Mommy and Daddy's also.
Josie definitely lets us know when she is ready to get out of her swing. As you can tell by the face she is giving us below. She is just to cute!

The Perfect Way To End The Day!

Today, Josie and I was joined my Aunt Jamie and Cousin Jacob for a play date if you would like to call it that. Jacob showed his Aunt Jennifer his new tricks including spinning on his tummy and getting up on all fours. This is a big accomplishment for Little Jacob. We are so proud of him! Josie tried to charm him, but was a little fussy most of the day. That was until Daddy got home from work. She is definitely a Daddy's Girl already and she is not even 3-weeks old yet. Well, she will be 3-weeks old tomorrow.

She enjoyed a bath which she liked tonight and then hit the sack with Daddy on the couch. Where she loves to be! It seems like she is always with Daddy in this position and in the napping mode.

What a little angel for Daddy!

The perfect way to sleep!

Does anyone know what the perfect way to sleep is? Little Miss Josie knows. It is while Mommy or Daddy is holding me. At night or even during the day, when she gets a little sleepy she fusses until Mommy or Daddy holds her. Then off to sleep she goes. What a little stinker!

Or perhaps holding is not what she wants it is just to simply lay in Mommy and Daddy's bed and then all is good again. I do not know if it is the comfy mattress, it being warm, or just because she wants to be close to us, but whatever the reason it works.

Our Little One Is Growing...

Today, Josie, Daddy, and I ventured into town for Josie's 2-week appointment. It makes Mommy sad to see how fast she is growing already. Little Miss Josie weighed in at 7-pounds 15-ounces. What a growing girl! She measures in at being in the 30%-tile for her weight. She grew a whole 1/4-inch. She is now 20 1/4-inches tall and in the 38%-tile for her height. Her head measures in at 34.5 cm and is in the 11%-tile.

After the doctors, we did a little shopping, however we were pretty disappointed in our lack of findings. Josie was a perfect angel though throughout the entire trip. Mommy and Daddy both promised her that she could get 2 new cool things next time for being so good since we struck out this time. Yeah, she is not spoiled or anything!

She will go back to the doctors in about a month and a half for her 2-month appointment. At that time she will start getting all of her shots. Poor little Josie, but you have to do what you have to do.

What a day!

Little Miss Josie and I had a very eventful day in my opinion. Today, was Daddy's first day back at work. So getting up at 3:20 AM was a killer for him this morning, while Josie and I enjoyed some much needed sleep.

Josie and I ventured out to the hospital today to get a little help with our feeding. Not to give lots of details, but lets just say Josie likes to bite when she starts to eat. Not a good thing for Mommy. Not a good thing at all. However, she has been getting better. Mommy just wanted to make sure that everything was going good and that there were no problems.

The nurse weighed her before she ate and she weighed in at 7 pounds 8 ounces. She is almost up to her birth weight. She ate her lunch and then they weighed her again and she had consumed 2.3 ounces. What a little piglet! But that's ok, we love her! How can you not look at her cute little face.

We enjoyed some nice lunch out for the first time she had ever been in a restaurant and then came home for a much needed nap.

I would have to say we had a very eventful day no matter what anyone says.

Sorry, I did not realize I have not posted in forever

Sorry, I did not realize I have not posted in forever.

This week has been kind of those kinds of weeks that wears you out fast. Josie was taking very long naps during the day and was awake at night time. So, as you can imagine this Mommy has been very tired.

I will try to keep up on the postings this week as much as possible.

I need of some much needed SLEEP!

Usually Little Miss Josie sleeps very well. She still has her days and nights mixed up. I hope not for to much longer, but there is nothing we can do about it at this point. She is just still to young. She typically sleeps a lot during the day time hours and then at night is up about every 3 hours to eat. I wish she just would sleep more during the night time hours. Last night however, was in other words BAD. She was awake fussing from about 10 till 2 AM. Mommy was a little on the tired side today and last night. We believe that perhaps she did not feel very well. On top of her not feeling well, either did mommy.

Bath Time!

Little Miss Josie is not 100% prone to enjoying her bath time yet. She does a little bit of crying and using the restroom when bathing. We believe that she does not like it very much right now because it is just simply a sponge bath. She gets a little cold and does not like that. She likes to snuggle and be warm.
Minutes after she is done with her bath and wrapped in her super warm robe. She is the perfect little Josie again.

I am one week old already!

When people say "they grow up so fast," I now know what they mean. Our little Josie is already one week old. Can you believe it? I can't. She is growing up so fast and changing by the day.

Happy Grandparents Day!

On Sunday, September 9th, it was Grandparents Day. To celebrate this special day, we visited the Grandparents and Great-Grandparents. This was our first official outing besides the doctors earlier in the week. To top it off, we enjoyed some Sunday nigh football!

Look...No more Umbilical Cord

Look...No more umbilical cord.

When Josie went to bed on Saturday night, she was still sporting her umbilical cord. It was attached by a thread, but it was still there. I knew it would not be long until it fell off. When, changing her diaper Sunday morning, I noticed that it was no longer attached. She had lost it over night. This means that she is getting old. Which makes me sad already that she is growing up so fast already.

Aren't I just Adorable!

Everything is going very good here at our house. Little Miss Josie is adjusting very well from being out of Mommy's tummy. She loves to snuggle and Tummy Time.
She is eating well, pooping well (just ask Grandma), and sleeping well. So as you can tell, all is well.
She has the biggest blue eyes and a smile that when you can catch it simply makes you melt. It is no wonder that Mommy spoils her, Daddy spoils her, Grandma spoils her, Grandpa spoils her, well as you can see EVERYONE spoils her. Which is fine, because she needs a little spoiling!
Have a great weekend! I know we will since she is here!

Little...Big

Last night, Aunt Jamie and Cousin Jacob came over for a little visit. Jacob will be 9 months old on the 10th of September. He looks like a giant moose next to our little Josie. And we call Josie "Chunky Monkey," well I guess when we put her next to Jacob she is tiny.

Jacob did not know what to think about her. He wanted to touch her, but we would not let him. He would lay on his tummy and try to get to her, but since he does not crawl yet could not catch her. Instead, he scooted himself backwards instead of forward.

Josie is changing and growing older by the day. It is very hard to believe that she is already 5 days old. Where has the time gone?

Mama's little Chunky Monkey!

Last night, was ten times better for all here at our house. Josie slept better, Mommy slept better, and Daddy slept even better than the night before even though he slept good the first night. Josie has her nights and days mixed up we believe. She sleeps very well during the day time hours and not as well during the night time hours. Which is common in babies. We are trying to keep her awake during the day more, so she will sleep better at night. It will get better over time.

We ventured out to the doctors this morning for Josie's 2-day appointment. Everything went very well. We can not believe that she is actually 4-days old now. Where has the time gone already. She weighs in at 7 pounds 4 ounces. Which is great! Babies loose a little weight after they are born and then gain it back. She is in the 33%-tile for her weight, 54%-tile for her height, and 17%-tile for her head circumference.

The doctor said she is just perfect. Yeah!

She has her Daddy among others wrapped around her little finger. As you can tell, he is spoiling her rotten already, but who could blame him she is just to darn cute!

Josie loves to cuddle up with Mommy. Her cheeks are just to darn cute that you just want to squeeze the them, but Mommy promised her she would not. Her cheeks are what got her the nickname for now "Chunky Monkey." She is not fat, she is perfect. I just love those cheeks!

Lots of people have been asking how I am doing and to answer that question, WONDERFUL! I feel great, can get around just wonderfully, and could not have asked for a more precious baby girl in the world! Lets just say I am on "Cloud 9" with my little girl!

A long first night!

Last night was our first night home and lets just say it was a long one for mommy and baby. Josie was up every hour to only eat for about 10-15 minutes not her normal eating pattern for sure. Usually she eats for about 35 minutes every 3 hours. I guess she just wanted her mommy to spoil her and hold her most of the night. Which this mommy was not complaining. I love to hold her and give her kisses. Don't let Brent fool you, he is hog wild over her too! She is definitely going to be a Daddy's Girl! Whether she wants to or not because he is spoiling her rotten already.

This morning she ate tons better and also has been sleeping better also.

We made it home!

Does she look tiny in her car seat?

We made it home from the hospital in one piece. Thank Goodness! We started out a little bad, but all ended well. Brent kept stating all morning that he was kind of nervous to make the venture home. Not that he was scared to go home, because he was excited to bring her home and to sleep in his own bed. He hated the uncomfortable bed he had to sleep on, but was scared of the actual driving with all the crazy drivers out there. We loaded her in the car and then by accident he started to go the wrong way through the parking deck. Oops! That is ok, we took care of the situation and then started to go the wrong way. Good thing there was no crazy drivers wiping through the parking deck at that time. Brent blames his misfortune on the car in front of him who he was following. However, they were just whipping around to pull into a spot not exit the parking deck.

Josie made it home in one piece and slept the entire time. Good Girl! She enjoys her car seat, which is always a plus.

They are on Sale!

Brent always has a way of making a situation funny. While we were in the hospital, Josie received her Hepatitis B shot. To administer the shot they scan her bar code and then the shot to record what she was getting. It reminds you of the scanner at a department store. When scanned it makes a dinging noise. Brent being the funny guy that he is stated, "Hey look Jenny, they are on sale!" I thought the nurse and I were both going to pee our pants laughing at his joke.

Doesn't she have the cutest little feet ever?!

Drum Roll Please!

Brent and I are proud to show all of you our beautiful baby GIRL! That is right it is a GIRL! Those of you who always thought it was a girl was right. Our friends and family were about 50/50 when thinking what the sex of the baby was.

Here is the 411 on her journey into the world. I woke up Sunday morning September 2nd, 2007 to not feeling very well with contractions being about 8 minutes apart starting about 9 AM. The contractions were not deathly painful, but uncomfortable. I kept wondering if the contractions were fake or real. So, just in case I took a shower and shaved my legs. No one wants to go into the hospital with really bad needed to be shaved legs. That was a workout let me tell you. Brent had received an invitation to go Dove hunting, but opted not to go because I was feeling really crummy. Contractions kept coming about every 7 minutes then and increasing in pain. I called up my sister Jamie to ask her when she thought I should go to the hospital. She was really excited. She told me to get my big tummy in the car ASAP and make that long journey. Since I had been ready for delivery with the dilated to a 3 already 90% thinned out last Wednesday that it would be best to go in and be safe than sorry since my contractions were regular and very painful. I just did not want to be one of those women that cried wolf and get sent back home.

We loaded the car and to the hospital we went. Brent obeyed the speed limit a little to much I told him. He thought that was funny, but he did go about 10 miles per hour over. I was having such intense contractions, it was not fast enough for me. We ended up getting behind a couple who were going WAY TO SLOW for my liking. They kindly pulled over after Brent rode their butt for a little bit. As we passed the couple that pulled over on the shoulder in our mirror we could see a man get out of the car yelling at the lady driver and making some hand motions. Then, she pulled back on the road and drove off leaving him behind on the road to walk to his final destination. Isn't that funny? That made me chuckle a little even though I hurt.

We arrived at the hospital about 3:45 PM and yes I was in labor and I was not just faking it. Thank goodness! I as dilated to a 4 with my contractions now coming every 3 minutes and lasting a little over a minute and a half. Brent was getting a little scared because each time a contraction was coming I wanted something to squeeze and his hand hurt just a little. So being the kind man he is he gave me a rolled up wash cloth to squeeze the heck out of.

I finally got some pain medicine about 6 PM! YEAH! That god for Epidural. I have to give credit to those women who go through labor all natural. May God bless you. I could not do it, I was in way to much pain. Labor progressed very fast. After the Epidural, I still could feel the contractions, but they were much more tolerable than before. I quickly dilated.

My water ended up breaking on its own around 7 PM and from then on it went really fast. After my water broke I spiked from a 7 to 9 1/2 very quickly. They had talked to my doctor several times during this short amount of time. But when my water broke they told the doctor I was ready to go now. He hurried up the hospital and the pushing began. I only had to push for a little over a half hour.

At 8:34 PM, Brent and I along with the nurses and doctor welcomed our little girl into the world.

Let me be the first to introduce you to our FUTURE SPOILED LITTLE GIRL!

Josie Kay
Born at 8:34 PM
September 2, 2007
20 inches long
7 pounds 10 ounces

Labor overall went really fast, faster than everyone thought. She was 2 weeks early. I guess she wanted to spoil every ones holiday weekend. Grandparents on both sides had to return home from going out of town for the weekend and the doctor had to come off the river boating with his family to deliver our baby. She just had a plan of her own, but we knew it was going to happen this weekend for some reason because no one was going to be around.

Our doctor came in wearing sandals, swimming trunks (blue Hawaiian floral pattern) and a tank top. What a cute look!

Just a side not the sono last week was just a little off according to weight. They estimated the weight being 6 pounds 10 ounces. Well, lets give them credit, they were only 1 pound off.

It's Show Time!

It's Show Time!

That is right...it's time. Brent and I have waited a long 9 months, well actually when you calculate it all out it is actually 10 months. Well anyways, the time has come for us to make the journey to the hospital to deliver our first child. That is right, it is time. I just know that it is going to be the longest car ride I have ever been on and the upcoming hours that rests ahead of me are going to seem like a life time, but for what.....a baby. Our baby, our first baby!

It is time to finally see our child for the first time and of course find out if it is a boy or a girl. That is the question everyone has been asking for the last 9 months and finally we will know.

Please, keep the baby (boy or girl) and me in your prayers, as this will be a huge thing for the both of us. Oh, and why not Brent while you are at it. We hope that the baby boy or girl, is healthy, that is all that matters.

It will be a few days now until our next posting given the circumstances, so please bare with me. The next posting you will see will be of our darling child. YEAH!!! That is unless for some odd reason this is false labor and then you will for sure be hearing from me.

Sorry, this post is up late. When we decided it was officially time, I was ready to leave and get to the hospital ASAP. I had this draft saved for a fast post, but I did not feel I had time to get online and post it. Any mother-to-be in need of pain medicine ASAP would understand what I mean.

Is Today Going to be the Day????

Is today going to be the day? That is a question that has been on our minds for a while now. We have waited so patiently for this day to come and is today going to be it? Who knows.

The Waiting Game!

Yes, that is right still no baby. Brent and I are just waiting for the little one to decide it is time to join us. Tonight, we ventured into town to have a nice dinner and boy was it nice. I enjoyed a delicious chicken breast smothered in BBQ sauce with melted cheese, bacon, and tomatoes. While Brent enjoyed a HUGE steak. We thought it was only the right thing to do, since we are just waiting for the baby to come. It will be some time before we can enjoy a meal like this one. You know like the last Howrah or something.
