Vacation Activity #3 - Part 1

For our last activity on vacation, we ventured to the zoo. It was one of the hottest days of the summer when we were there, but hey what do you expect in the month of July. We ventured to the zoo during the week to beat the weekend traffic and it was well worth it. It was dead. Kind of like having the entire zoo to ourselves. There was very few people and no lines for anything. Just how we like it. We saw a good variety of animals from monkeys to hippos.

The animals themselves were even trying to stay cool by resting either in the shade or in water. We saw some silly monkeys rolling down a hill with their night-night to keep us and them entertained. That was a hoot!

We purchased zoo passes when we were there that was way worth the $10 per person. We got to ride on the zoo train that took us around the entire zoo to scope out all the cool animals, ride on the merry-go-round, watch a 3-d motion sensored movie, and see a sea lion show. The kids loved the train and merry-go-round. Of course, what kid would not. Josie and Brent went and saw the movie because Ogdan was to small and they suggest women expected should not go on it. Darn I know. We also got to see a 45 minute sea lion show. More info in next post on that show.

Overall, we will be back again in 2 years to see the new animals and things the zoo has to offer us. We go every other year. The last time we were there was the summer of 2009 and I was pregnant with Ogdan. So, we will see what happens in 2 more years.

Summer Vacation 2011 - Activity #2

For our second activity on vacation, we ventured to a resturant named Incredible Pizza Company. It is a place similar to Chuck-E-Cheese. It is all you can pizza and desert buffet. You pay at the door to get in, eat as much pizza as you want and then off to play games you go. It is like an arcade with some larger attractions.

We were on vacation during the week, so we could go to our activity locations on slower days than a weekend. On the night we went to the Pizza Company it was $1 attraction night. Meaning that you could do thier larger attractions for only $1 per person. Rock on for us! The cost of the larger attractions were around $5 per person on regular days. So, can you say major savings and man was it worth it. We were able to go mini bowling, play glow in the dark golf, and go racing go carts all for only $1 a person per activity. YEAH!

Ogdan and Josie loved the mini bowling. It is just like regular bowling, but the lane is not as long and you are using balls a little bigger then ski balls and much lighter. They were perfect for thier little hands. They both had a blast. I can not wait to actually take them real bowling now.

Josie and Brent drove the go carts. With being pregnant, I was unable to race them :( But that is ok. While they were in line waiting to race, Ogdan and I had fun of our own. He drove his own arcade style race car, a motorcyle, and shot himself some wild game. What a hoot he was!

Brent and Josie raced thier hearts out and won the go cart race. Ogdan had a blast cheering them on from the racing fan bleachers. Of course Josie's face never was without a giant smile on it while they were driving. They kicked butt so much that they laped people. The winner got a ribbon and let me just tell you she thought she was "the stuff" after that.

We played glow in the dark golf. It was ok, but it would not have been worth full price. The kids were not all that impressed by it either. So, off to the kiddie section we went. They had a mini merry go round, of course the kids loved that. Ogdan drove a plan and HATED it. It went up and down and that was not the part that he hated it was that once it got to the bottom it would shake and kind of jult and that scared him. He cried and screamed to get out of it. Poor kid. However, all I could do was stand there, snap photos and laugh. It was not funny but his facial expressions were priceless. Josie rode a horse and frog. Loved it! Ogdan did get to drive an old time car on like a train track and would not get off. He drove it 3 times, before we had to pry his little hands off the steering wheel kicking and crying. It was adorable. At one time he drove around and went "mama, bye bye" and waved. It just melted my heart. All I can say is he is 100% boy. Loves tools, cars, trucks, motorcycles, 4 wheelers, dirt, all those typical boy things. So, when he gets older I better be careful because he is going to want himself a big truck or muscle car when he turns 16. Oh boy!

Overall, we had a blast at the Pizza Company.
