A Whale Of A Tale

Isn't this so cute?! Josie is all laid back and relaxed reading her animal book "cow...a cow goes moo." Josie loves books, which is great because Brent is not to keen on them himself. She looks at them and sometimes even eats them every chance that she gets. She is going to be so smart when she gets to Kindergarten with all of the looks that she looks at. At this rate, perhaps Josie will be reading the newspaper before she can walk.

Josie thought it was time to switch positions while reading her favorite book. "pig...a pig goes oink oink."

Rock Star Mommy!

As most of you know the new craze around town is the Guitar Hero game for Playstation 2 or other game systems. Debbie returned home from her trip to Virginia with one, so of course I had to try it out. At first, I was not very good at all. Well, ok I was horrible. I can not do two things at once. Hence, why I never played an instrument in school. I did manage to pass 2 songs my first time ever playing the game though. After you master a song, it states "You Rock!" So I rocked 2 songs. Since, that one day. I have borrowed the game from my grandma who has the game for my cousin and I have been practicing, so that I do not get booed off the stage and the family makes fun of me. Watch out family next time you see me play. Lets just say I have officially mastered all of the songs in the Easy category. Well, hey you have to start small and work up right. I am now on the medium stage and am starting to rock all of those songs. So, lets just say you are looking at a Rock Star Mommy! With Josie as my back up singer.

Next time you see me sorry, no audigraphs or flash photography please! Ha Ha! Rock on until next posting.

New Toy!

Josie will be 5 months old already on Saturday, so we thought perhaps it may be time to introduce a new toy to her. She loves to stand, so out we broke the Johnny Jumper. She loved it! She does not jump in it yet, but it allows her to stand which she loves. She moves her feet and shakes the jumper, but no jumping yet. So thanks to Great Aunt Peggy and Great Aunt Lori for this wonderful present. Once she starts to get the hang of it, she will love it ten times better. It is designed for children 6 months and older, but she is a smart girl. She may not be able to see over the top very well, but it keeps her occupied and having a blast. THANKS!

Upgrading...

Picture taken the first time Josie could get completely wet. That is once her cord fell off.

Photo taken last night in her bigger tub. Look at that face! I think at first she was kind of scared, but she liked it after a few minutes.

The time has officially come for Josie to upgrade to a bigger bath tub. She has simply outgrown the bath hammock. Her feet hung over the edge and she kept trying to sit up, so away went the hammock. Now, she sits simply just in the baby tub itself. I think she liked it much better. She gets baths twice a week. One day she gets her bath in her tub over the sink and the other in the big adult tub where she can really play. Our lille girl is growing up way so fast.

Happy Birthday Aunt Peggy!

Josie, Brent, and I just want to sent out a Happy Birthday wish to Aunt Peggy! Let us be one to say "Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Aunt Peggy! Happy Birthday to you!" We hope that your birthday is filled with lots of joy and laughter. Well, since Debbie and Bevo flew out to surprise you, we know it will be filled with way to much laughter. We can not wait to see the surprise video. Perhaps it is America's funniest video material. That would be great if it is. Enjoy your day. Happy Birthday!

(I thought the onesie fit perfect for such occasion. It states "Are these people really my relatives?)

Future Ballerina

Our Future Ballerina
Josie begged us to allow her to break in her tutu, so we gave in and here we are. Cute, huh?

Amen

"As I lay me down to sleep I pray the lord my soul to keep. Amen." If Josie could speak real words, I am sure this is what she would have actually been saying before she went to bed. When Josie says her prayers before bed it is the cutest thing ever, as you can tell. She is turning into her very own special person. With a love for her hands (which she chews on all the time), her tongue (which is always out), her feet (which she now grabs), and best of all her MOMMY! I am sure those are the things she prays about. Well, she probably adds in Daddy too to make him happy.

Got Any Flies?

Isn't this one of the cutest pictures you have ever seen? Josie has fully discovered she has a tongue among other things lately such as feet. Her tongue is always out lately. Kind of like she is a frog trying to catch some flies. I think it is adorable. It simply cracks me up when Brent will try to get her attention by saying her name and she turns her heads to look at him and then...out comes that tongue of hers at him. It is hilarious. 4 1/2 months old and already showing some attitude towards Daddy. What a little stinker, but a cute one at that.

Josie's On A ROLL!

Today, Josie hit a big milestone. We were downstairs playing, patiently waiting for Daddy to get home from his weekend away with the boys hunting, when Josie decided it was time to show Mommy some of her tricks. She was playing on her tummy enjoying some Saturday morning cartoons when she did it. She rolled over! She did it all by herself with no help or anything and the best part was she was happy when she did it. But it gets even better...I thought well hey I wonder if she will do it yet again so back on her belly she went. And within about 2 minutes she did it again. That is right she did not roll over just once today but twice within 5 minutes time. I was so ecstatic I could not contain myself. I was jumping up and down clapping and cheering Josie on. She thought I was funny and simply kept smiling at me.

I wish I would have been able to get it on video, believe me I tried it. She decided she no longer wanted to be on her belly or show me her tricks for a little while. Maybe later she will show Daddy her new tricks and I can get it on video then. I may not have it on video, but I was taking her picture playing on the floor when she rolled over so here are a few photos before and after she actually rolled over.

Brent is going to be so upset when he finds out that he missed this special moment when he could have been here to see it first hand. Oh well. Knowing Josie she probably will not roll over now again for a while. Weeks ago, she proved to us that she can laugh when she simply laughed at Daddy and a taco, but since has not laughed again. We make fools of ourselves all the time to get her to laugh. Me especially all day long, but no go. So, with her being so stubborn she probably won't show her new trick again for a while.

Way to go Josie!

This photo was taken seconds before Josie rolled over. (Take One!)

Photo taken seconds before take #2!

End result of her rolling over! Always a happy baby!

GO JOSIE! YOUR ON A ROLL!

Girls Weekend Yet Again

As all of you know Brent enjoys his hobbies. Everything from fishing as shown above to deer hunting. For the next few days, he is away attempting to shoot the monster of all bucks. I say attempting, because he has shot numerous deer this year but has not been able to track any of them. Poor Brent.

With Brent away Josie and I get to do a little more bonding. I know it is not like we do not bond all the time with me not working, but home with her all the time. Well, it is work. It is a full-time job in its own and there is nothing I would rather do. She is only little for a little bit so I am going to treasure every minute we have together. Brent will be home in a few days, and we are hoping for our sake he comes home with a deer.

Advancing

Today, was a very exciting day at our house. Every little thing Josie does is special, but today she showed us that her coordination skills are advancing. She is still not rolling over yet, but is very close if only her little arm was not in the way blocking her from doing it. Today, Josie was sitting on my lap rocking in the rocking chair watching one of our favorite shows, Ellen and she did the unthinkable. She used her right hand and pulled her pacifier out of her mouth. She was holding it in her right hand until she brought both hands together and then transferred it simply to her left hand. YEAH JOSIE! I could not believe it. Its easier then most items because it was a small object, but it still counts. Way to go!

Highchair Time

Josie loves to sit on my lap at the table during dinner time. I think it is because she is spoiled and likes to be able to see all the action all the time. Is she interested in what we are actually doing? The answer is no. She just likes for me to simply hold her. So, I thought well heck what about the highchair. Our highchair is designed to adjust. The back will recline. So, out we broke the highchair to give it a try. This way she can see what we are doing while we are eating dinner and she will not have to sit on my lap. Lets just say she enjoyed the chair. It sits her up just how she likes and everything. We have to fully strap her in the chair because she is way to small for the chair, but that is ok. She can hardly see over the tray which cracks me up. The ped doctor says that perhaps we can start giving her rice soon. She is to small for it now and shows no interest in eating at this time. In about a month, we will see how she is and how interested she is then. For now, she will just simply chill in her big girl chair. Does this make you sad? It does me. She is getting to be such a big girl.
Here are a few photos from her first highchair sitting experience.

(See what I mean. The chair is way to big for her at this time.)

Afternoon With Cousin Jake

This afternoon after Josie got done at the doctors office, we had Jacob over for a little quality time for a few hours. He is so cute and funny! He dances to music, waves buy, and tons of other funny things. Here are a few cute photos from our afternoon together.

Josie was laying on the floor fighting not to fall asleep with her pacifier and blanket, when all of a sudden Jacob thought that it looked good. He went and grabbed his blanket and pacifier and laid down right next to Josie. It was so cute! I could not help but take a cute photo of this excellent moment.

4 month check up

Today, was Josie's 4 month doctors appointment. Can you believe that? She turned 4-months old on January 2nd, but this was the first available appointment that they had. I had to venture to the doctors with Josie on my own. Brent had to work today, so he could not go. I usually make the appointment on one of his days off, but this time since I made it in November I did not have his 2008 work schedule. That is ok. I survived. Josie survived. She was due for her 4-month shots. As all of you know, I hate shots. So it killed me yet again today, but not as bad because Josie did very well. She only cried well more like whined for about 30 seconds while they gave it to her and that was all. I made her look at me and overall it went well. Seconds after the nurse with the huge needles. Well, they were not huge more like tiny left Josie was smiling at me. She kept kicking her legs and moving to make the paper on the table crinkle. I think she liked the sound that it made when she moved.

Well, anyways here are the results that everyone has been wanting. Here are her stats:

Weight - 12 pounds 7 ounces - 19%-tile (she is tiny for her age)
Height - 24 1/4 inches - 42%-tile

Head - 38.2 cm - .73%-tile (yes, that is right .73%. That means her head is not even in the 1%-tile. All the other babies her age has a bigger head than her. She has a tiny melon for a head. It is nothing to be concerned about. She is just tiny overall. I too have a small head. When I go to the eye doctors for glasses or shopping for a hat, I have to buy youth sizes. Adults are just way to big. I guess overall she takes after me.)

Now, we will not go back to the doctor until March 11th for her 6 month appointment.

Man, Is It Warm

We set a record in temperatures the last few days. It was 66 degrees here at the house yesterday and an amazing 64 degrees today. It is like we are having a tropical heatwave or something. I love warm weather, so these last few days have been great in my opinion. Brent on the other had liked it, but wishes he could go ice fishing. He stepped out on the pond today, but as you can guess it just cracked due to the high temperatures. Josie enjoyed the warm temps also. I would love for it just to stay this way for the rest of the winter and then move right into summer. Wouldn't that be great!

Saying My Prayers

As most of you probably already know, Josie is doing new and exciting things every single day. She screams when she is happy which is very cute, but you need ear plugs when she really gets going. She screams but at a higher pitch when she is really mad. She has the potential to laugh, but has only done that once. And lots of other little things. But the cutest thing of all is her prayers. Josie has mastered bringing her hands together as if she is praying. She mastered this skill the week before Christmas. We think this is so adorable.

4 Months Old Already!

Our little sunshine is 4 month old today. Can you believe it? Brent and I can't. She is growing up so fast and is becoming her very own self. She a happy baby and loves to smile.

To celebrate her 4 month birthday and catch up on old times with a dear old friend, we dined out for dinner. Jason was visiting from out of town, so we had fun talking over a nice meal. She was a perfect little angel. She did not make a peep the entire time, which was great. Last time, we ate out she was not so good. That was because she was so very tired.
