Results are in!

So, here is the moment all of you have been waiting so patiently for....test result time. I have been one nervous wreck all week long wondering and pondering what the results of my 3-hour glucose test would be. After what happened at the lab with me getting sick, it just made my stomach cringe to think about it. Well the results are here and I have good news to report.

EVERYTHING CAME BACK NORMAL! YEAH!!

As of Thursday afternoon, I still had not heard of anything from the doctors, so I became one of those crazy patients who calls in instead of waiting for their call. But hey, I have a darn good reason to call in. This test would affect the rest of my pregnancy and I just had to know what the heck was going on. I explained my situation to the lady that answered the phone and as she checked to see if they had my results 100 million different things were running though my mind and I was sick to my stomach to hear what she had to say. When she said the results were in...I started to sweat, but all is well. YEAH!!!

Thanks to everyone that said a prayer for good results...It worked!

Still no test results...

Ok, so today is Wednesday even though I believe for some odd reason it feels like a Thursday. Anyway, I still have not heard from the doctors office yet regarding my 3-hour glucose test. I am praying that no news at this point is good news.

If I do not hear from them today, then first thing tomorrow morning I am going to phone them to see if they received my test results yet. Since it was such a long test it may just take longer to get the results back. Lets just pray that, that is it.

I think this to-be-mama needs some sort of reward!

Ok, as all of you know from my posting on Friday my glucose test did not go very smoothly. So today at 8 AM sharp, I was back at the Outpatient Lab having yet again another glucose test done. However, this time instead of a 1 hour test this one was a total of 3 long hours.

Everything started out smoothly. I drank the yucky glucose drink. This time it was not fruit punch, but orange. It reminded me of that orange drink you get at McDonald's. Lets just say it was not very appetizing. The concentrate this time was much higher and made me gag.

Over the course of the next dreadful 3 hours, I get stuck with a needle (yes, a needle in which I hate) 5 different times. They could not just put an IV in and draw from that every time of course not that would have been to easy. However, I did suggest the idea, but got shot down. Bummer!

So, one hour had pasted and by then I had already had 3 sticks to the same arm. Talk about being sore. About 1 hour and 15 minutes into the test, I started to get really really hot. I kept thinking to myself this is not good, I still have 2 long hours to go. To top it off, I was just sitting out in the regular waiting room in the most uncomfortable chairs you can imagine getting really tired and starting not to feel all that well. The nurse came out and saw my discomfort and had me move to the other side of the room where the air conditioning was the best to cool me down. Thank goodness! I kept thinking "Man, I hope I remembered my deodorant today!" I guess it was a big mistake to where jeans. However, I am always cold in the doctors office or hospital and I thought I would be ok, but I guess I was wrong. About another 15 minutes pasted, however I was still really really hot, my belly was starting to hurt, and not to my knowledge but I was starting to shake a little. Ask Brent about my shaking sometime. I do it when I am cold or sometimes just because. It is really creepy, but hey I can not help it. The nurse came out to check on me and the look on her face was not good. She asked if I was feeling ok and I calmly stated that I was not feeling up to pare. She could definitely tell she told me. She said I was pale as a ghost and did not look well. She moved me to a room in the back and had me lay down for the remainder of the testing. If I were to get sick, I would have to take the test all over again tomorrow and I surely did not want that especially since I had already had 3 needles in me already and only had 2 to go. Have I mentioned that I hate needles! For the next hour and a half I took a little nap and they came in when needed and would take yet again some more blood sticking me each time.

When it was all said and done, I felt much better and did not get sick. Thank goodness! However, at times I really wished I could have. Now, I was insanely hunger and needed food and a drink bad. I had not had anything to eat or drink since Sunday night around 9 PM and now it was close to 12 noon.

Lets just say that I am glad the test is over and I hope that everything comes back just fine tomorrow. As for the baby, I am sure he or she is going to miss that rush of sugar. The baby was constantly on the move all morning after drinking that gross glucose drink.

Please keep me and the baby in your prayers tonight, so that tomorrow we can hear good news!

Well off to the dentist I now go!

Test Results are in...

Ok, the test results are in and I do not have good news to report at this time.

Brent called me at work this afternoon and informed me that the doctors office had called and that I needed to contact them back regarding my test results from Thursday. Thursday I had the 1 hours gestational diabetes test. When Brent told me this my heart sank to the floor and started to beat 10 times faster. I knew that they would only contact me if there was something wrong and indeed there was.

My test results came back to be high. They would not tell me how high my results were, but informed me that I needed to have more intense testing done. They scheduled me an appointment for first thing on Monday morning. The test that will be completed on Monday is going to take between 3-4 hours to complete. I am really, really nervous. If I fail this test, as I did the last one it would mean that I have gestational diabetes. I really want to know what my levels were. I usually make my appointments on days that Brent can attend with me, he loves to go and get the scoop on the baby. However, when I asked if I could make it later for him to be able to go, the nurse acted as if it really had to be done ASAP. Which really frightens me. She said that I really needed to have the test done first thing Monday morning and not to wait any longer. By now I am really scared.

I know everything will be alright. My aunt once said that her office where she works no longer does the 1 hour test because there are to many people that fail it at her office so they only do the 3 hour test. But it still frightens me that I could be one of the select few that do get it during pregnancy.

A lot of things are starting to make sense now, even though I hope I do not have it. I shake sometimes for no reason (just ask Brent it freaks him out and I am not cold or anything), I am ahead of the game weight wise so far in my pregnancy (according to the doctor), I am tired all the time, and the list continues.

I should have my test results back, I would hope Tuesday since these tests results came back so fast. So, please pray for me that everything comes out just fine from these tests.

All I want is to deliver a healthy baby! So the less stress the better.

Test Day!

There is one single thing that I am going to hate when our little bundle of joy is born and that is doctor days that involve shots. I am not fond of needles. None at all. I have a really easy stomach which includes cringing to the sit of needles, blood, and vomit.

I had to go to the doctors today to have my maternity diabetic test done. This entailed me fasting for hours. I had nothing to eat or drink from 9:30 PM, until I got to the doctors at 9:30 AM. Normally, this would be a piece of cake, however being pregnant is a different story. Last night, I was so THIRSTY. I was craving a HUGE glass of water, but it was not allowed. I could not eat or drink anything until after my test was completed. So, all night I had to suffer with a dry mouth. I get very thirsty in the late evening and early morning hours now of days. To top it all off, I was starving this morning and really wanted a giant bowl of Frosted Flakes, but no not for Jenny. I ventured to have my tests done eager to get it done to have a tall glass of water.

I had to drink this glucose drink that was suppose to taste like fruit punch, however this fruit punch was like none that I have ever tasted before. It was room temperature and thin, but tasted like cough syrup. I was so thirsty though that I did not care one bit. I had to drink a full 8 oz, then I had to wait for a complete hour for them to draw blood to complete the test. The hour seemed to have gone by fairly quickly. I caught up on some of my baby readings. I learned some new discipline concepts. Maybe, I should test them out on Brent first and see if they really do work.

They drew my blood and then I was done. I have to say that I did an excellent job! I looked the other way, since needles are not my thing and before I knew it they were done. I have to break my fears of needles I know, but only for my child's sake. How rude were they, I did not even get a sucker when I was done, but it is now all over. On my way out of the hospital, I stopped at the first soda machine and purchased a bottle of water. People probably thought I won the lottery I was so excited.

Now, it is just a waiting game for the test results to get in. Lets all hope that everything comes back just fine.

Another Doctor Day!

This past week, we had another doctors visit. YEAH! I just love doctor day. It is one day that Brent and I get to go and listen to the baby's heart beat and see how things are doing with the baby. I have continued to gain weight as expected, however the doctor did inform me that I am ahead of the game at this very point. Meaning that I am ahead of other pregnant women at this point in the pregnancy according to weight. I am not disclosing how much weight I have gained or how much ahead I am, but I am. Everything with the baby is going great! He or she has a really strong heartbeat and everything looks great. This week I have some tests that I will have done, but other than that everything is good. Seven months have already past and only 3 to go. Where has the time gone. It just seems like yesterday I found out that Brent and I were expecting.

A Very Eventful Weekend

Seven months pregnant!

It has been some time since I have posted. To all of you daily blog checkers, I am deeply sorry. I have been very, very busy this last week and have had little but no time to post. I will catch all of you up on what has happened in the last week, do not worry.

To start out, on Saturday, June 16th, Blake got married. What a shock???!! I know. Many people thought, including me that he would be one to never get married, but he proved us wrong. It was only like 99 degrees outside and it was an outdoor wedding, but we survived some how. I thought numerous times that Brent, Bryant, and especially Blake was going to go down. But thank heavens they did not. It is now all over and we can chill in the air conditioning, thank goodness.
Here are some photos of our eventful day! I hope you enjoy.
Daddy-to-be a little DRUNK, but still loving his child!
Debbie can not wait for our little bundle of joy. I think I will have to pry the baby from her arms when he or she arrives. She is so excited to be a Grandma-to-be!
Still, Mama's little boy...but soon it will be about the baby not him. Sorry, Brent!

Our House

There have been a few people email me and tell me that they want to see photos of our house online. So, here they are.

Our house has 3 bedroom, 2 full-bathroom, 2 stall detached garage, and a fireplace in the basement. It rests on 5 acres in the country with 2 old barns and a shed.
Our re-finished lake. Last year, we had the pond re-dug. It really needed it. The spot in the middle is me floating on my raft in the pond.
Front yard.
Backyard. Our deck on the back reaches from one side of the house to the other and wraps around the corner. Total square footage is around 500 square feet.

Lazy day in the pond

The weather was SO nice this past weekend, that is why I have not posted anything in such a long time. Sorry, to all of you daily web viewers for the delay. I just could not get myself to come in front of the computer to post anything when it was so nice outside. So, now I can caught all of you up on what has happened in the last few days.

On Saturday, marked the very first day that we officially floated on our pond since it was re-dug. Yeah! We did not just raft on Saturday, but also on Monday. You got to love having a 3 day weekend. Lets just say that Brent got REALLY burned. Poor guy! While I on the other have was only red for a short amount of time, however on Saturday evening I looked like a ripe tomato. That is right a tomato.

Maternity swimming suits, what are those?!?! I bare it all, in my regular bikini. So, if you plan on stopping by and do not want to see my BEAUTIFUL tummy, you better call first. If you know me, I am not a shy person and will tell you how things are and I am not afraid to show a little skin. After all, when you have a good body why hide it, right? I may be pregnant, but I am all baby. Remember that when you comment on how I look.

From popular demand of people wanting to see a photo of me showing it all in my swimming suit, here is a little sneak peek.

SHHHH! Don't tell mom or else my baby sitter is DEAD!

"Oh, I need a nap" face

"I wish I could crawl" face

Today, was a great day for me to practice getting ready for my little bundle of joy. I was on Jacob duty this morning. I love it! He is so cute and good.

The morning was going as good as gold, when Jacob kept telling me something. He kept saying "Aunt Jenny I am really a CUBS fan, not a CARDINAL fan. Please dress me in a Cubs outfit and take my picture." Being the good Aunt that I am, I granted his request and got out a Cubs jogging suit out of our bundle of joys closet and placed it on him. He loved it! He was laughing and talking and rooting for the good team. He begged me to take his photo, so I just had to do it.

"Go CUBS!"

Ok, well he may have not been saying just that, but maybe he was in his own baby language. He talks to me, but no one can understand his gibberish.

"Cubs are #1!"

This may be the very last time that my sister and brother-in-law allow me to watch my favorite nephew. Lets just pray they have a good sense of humor when they see this and that I live to see tomorrow.

Our first baby class!

Tonight, Brent and I went to our first official baby class! We loaded up our baby doll to practice with and off to the local hospital we went. Brent was so funny. He did not want to be the one to carry the baby doll into the hospital, so I carried the doll. When we got to the floor in which the class was on there was a man holding the doll in his hands in the hallway. He was standing by himself. I told Brent, "That man is not afraid to hold a doll." I thought he was going to beat me in the hallway for joking around with him.

The class we were taking was formed to provide important information that new parents would need to survive after giving birth. We learned such things as: feeding options, bathing, what the baby will look like minutes after birth, and so much more. We learned some new things, but refreshed our memories of others.

Trivia: How big is a 3 day-old baby's tummy?

Answer: It is only the size of a ping pong ball at 3 days old!

Young and ready to fight for Grandma!

"Don't Mess with me" face

"Ok, I love you too!" face

I forgot yesterday to mention our littlest team member for the "Sandy's Soldiers." As most of you know, this is Jacob, my nephew. Isn't he just adorable? He was in attendance for most of the day flirting with all the girls. He kept all of us pretty much entertained. Jacob is only 6 months old and is as cute as can be. Brent and I just adore him and can not get enough of him. Brent is sure getting broke in. The other day he watched Jacob on his own for several hours. Yes, he survived. Brent said that when he arrived he was sleeping. However, if you know Brent, Brent has to be entertained. So, Brent decided he could not sleep and messed with him until he woke up, so he would be entertained. That sounds just like Brent.

Proud mom and dad

Gotta love Grandpa Dave!

Relay For Life

I would like to thank everyone who either donated or helped out our Relay for Life team "Sandy's Soldiers" by participating in any of our fundraisers we did this year. Our team goal was to raise $5,000. However, we did not raise that. We raised $6,679.79! YEAH! We received first place for raising the most money. We won by around $300.

This year they awarded spirit points to teams. Spirit points are given by such things as: the number of fundraisers, team members staying the full 24 hours, being on the committee, and so on. We washed the other teams away. Our team had an amazing 575 points! We got first in that also. The second place team only had 315 points. WAY TO GO US! So, we were awarded a purple wooden life size person to be placed at our campsite next year. We nicknamed the purple person, "Sandy," because she is the reason we do all of this every year and the reason we did so well this year.

"Sandy's Soldiers" was formed years and years ago, when my mother was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She was always the survivor on the team and the reason for us walking. Well, as most of you know she could not be there with us this year. Last year, our team goal was to raise the $5,000 and we were only $200 shy of meeting our goal. This year we worked really hard to meet that goal for her and was amazed at our success. We did it in just over a month! Go us!

Our team consists of 15 members both family and close friends of my mother. This year we had special shirts made just, so everyone knew who we were and what we were ultimately there for.

Isn't she beautiful??

Do you get the significance of the words "March" and "Battle" on the shirt? They go with the soldiers/army theme.

I am so proud of my mother and what she had done while with us here on earth. I can not wait until that day when I can hear her wonderful voice again and she can hold me in her loving arms. I know she is always watching over us making sure that we always make the right decisions. She is my guardian angel! Until then, I will keep marching on fighting for her to show her how much I love and miss her.
