First Trip To The Zoo

Its a fox...No its Josie!

On Friday, I was home from work by 11 AM. It was a much needed little family time. So, to start our weekend out right, Brent and I decided that we were going to take Josie to the zoo for the very first time. She really enjoyed herself and Brent and I had a hoot watching her smile and have fun. Here are a few of our photos:

Riding a camel and only 1 year old.

Where did the animals go?!

Josie was not really thrilled at the petting portion of the zoo. She kept backing up and did not want to touch the pony. She liked to watch him, but absolutely no touching.

Josie was having a ball watching the Meerkats. Look at her face.

Vote For Your Favorite Costume

Don't forget on the right hand side of the website I have listed a Halloween costume poll. Vote for your favorite costume selection.

Halloween Costume Ideas

As all of you know I have been racking my brain now for about a week or two to come up with the cutest Halloween costume ever for Josie. I have several really good ideas, but I think I am going to save them for when she gets to me a little older. So, I decided I would get a few costumes and try them on her and decide which I like the best. However, I am still not sure as to which one is the best. Remember it has to be better than last year to land her 1st or 2nd place in the costume contest in town. Here are a few photos of her in the 3 costumes I presently have for her to choose from. Take a look and vote on the website for whichever one you think is the cutest and she should be for Halloween this year.

Isn't that cute?!

Professional Photographer Here I Come...Well Probably Not

Last night was my very first class of a 3-week course on photography that I am taking. The local library has offered this photography class and so I enrolled. It is only 1 day a week for a little over 2 hours for 3 weeks. It is mainly a photography crash course, but hopefully I will learn something that I didn't already know to take better photos of my favorite subject, JOSIE.

I felt really bad leaving Josie last night after being away from her all day, but I kept telling myself it is only 3 weeks and after it is said and done I will be able to take better photos of her. Well, hopefully I will.

What Should I Be For Halloween?

If you all will acall, Josie was LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD for Halloween last year. She was only 1 month old and my Grandma and I made her costume due to her being so small. She also won 3rd place in the Halloween Costume Contest here in town.

So, this years costume has to be better than last year. The costume has to be 2nd place material. I need a little help this year to come up with the perfect costume. Do any of you have any cute ideas of what Josie could be for Halloween? Let me know if you do.

4 Teeth Now!

Just look at those teeth!

Josie has had a little runny nose now for the last few days and today appeared a new tooth. She officially has 4 teeth now. The 2 bottom in front and now the 2 top front. The top ones are not all the way in now, since one just broke the skin this afternoon. She is being a real trooper with these new teeth coming in.

So, next time you see her ask her to she you her pretty teeth. If you put your finger in her mouth she bites down on it like there is no tomorrow.

Have a good evening!

1-Year Doctor Visit

Mommy, do you want a bite?

Yesterday, Brent took Josie to the doctors for her 1-year appointment. Can you believe that? I really wanted to go, but with starting a new job was unable to get the time off already. I did not want to have to spend 1 of my only 3 personal days to take her, so Brent took her. The doctor said she is looking good. Here are her stats:

Height - 29 inches - 48 %-tile

Head - 25 cm - 48%-tile

Weight - 17 pounds 4 ounces -3%-tile

(At 9-months, she weighed 15 lbs 9 oz. and was in the 3 %-tile. At 6 months, she weighed only 14 lbs 2 oz.) What a little runt. She is gaining on average of about 1 1/2 pounds every 3 months. If you see her jelly rolls you would not think she would weigh so less, but when you pick her up she is light as a feather.

Brent and I always bet before Josie goes to the doctors as to how much she weighs. I guessed 18 1/2 pounds and Brent guessed 20 pounds 2 ounces. I guess we were both wrong. She is still in her infant car seat, the one we brought her home from the hospital in. She received a new car seat for her birthday that is the next step up. However, the doctor said that she must remain in the infant seat until she is 20 pounds. Perhaps, when she is 15 months old she can move to her new seat, but at her rate more than likely not. I think she will probably be more like 18 months old before she will out grown that seat, but we will see.

"Ball"

Josie's favorite toy to play with for a while now has been a ball. Any ball that she can find. She picks it up and says "ball." It is adorable. So, for her birthday Brent and I decided to buy her, her very own ball pit for her birthday. We wanted one that was enclosed that way we would not have tons of balls everywhere. I had to order one online and was very worried that it would not arrive in time, but it did and this is what it was. It takes up almost the entire upstairs living room when all put together. She only has 225 balls to go with it. What do you think? Pretty cool gift for a first birthday, huh.

HELP

REWARD

As some of you know, my dog has gone missing. I let her outside to use the restroom Sunday evening and she did not come back. It was around 11 PM. I usually let her outside off of her leash at night, because she does her thing and comes right back to the door. She doesn't like to get her feet wet and by then the grass is damp. Also, she is ready to go to bed in her very own bed. So, she does not mess around. I always let her out while I brush my teeth and then let her back in when I am done. However, that did not happen Sunday night. She never came back to the door. I ended up going out and yelling for her and nothing. I even searched for her and nothing. I drove up and down the road, walked, yelled, everything. The neighbor lady heard me and came out to help. I was up until around 1:30 AM Monday morning looking for her and nothing. I was then up Monday by 7:00 AM to continue my search. Nothing. I do not have any clue where she has gone or what has happened to her. Below is an aid I have out on her. If you know anything please let me know. Please send out the word to all of you friend, family, or anyone who may be able to help me find her.
Like I have told someone "Please help me find my one-year-old daughter's best friend." That is what she is to Josie. They play together all the time and since she has been gone I can tell that Josie looks for her, but can not find her.

Lost: 2 ½ year-old brown & black Yorkshire Terrier Dog named Halle, mostly brownish in color, wearing a pink collar, recently groomed so hair is very short, small dog only weighing 5 lbs, last seen August 31. If you have any information please contact me.

Betty Crocker Eat Your Heart Out

I am definitely no Betty Crocker, but for Josie's first birthday I was. I worked really hard on Sunday to produce the very best birthday cake I have ever made. And if I can say so myself I did a pretty darn good job! It took me around 12 hours to construct, but it was well worth it in my book. It took so long because I only had one cake mold and only one oven. Here are a few photos of my work of art. Each section of the caterpillar was a different flavor cake. One was spice, one vanilla, one chocolate, and one cherry chip. Josie's was the little version. Isn't it cute?!

What do you think?

Our little family

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday dear Josie,
Happy Birthday to You!
As all of you know, Josie is officially 1 year old! Wow! Monday, we celebrated her birthday due to school being in session on her actual birthday (Tuesday). The party went well. We enjoyed lots of food, my masterpiece of a cake, Josie eating her very first taste of sweets, Josie walking and lots more.

We had practiced with Josie for weeks to get her to blow our her birthday candles. You would ask her and she would do it, but with just a little bit of the good old spit. However, when it came time to perform in front of a group she would not. All she wanted was to taste her yummy cake. And that she did. The little piglet did not get any on the floor and 95% of it she ate. She did overall very good.

She showed off her walking skills even for everyone to see. For the last week, she would take maybe a step or two and that was all. Well, not at her birthday party. She wanted to perform and that is just what she did. She did a lot of walking and we all cheered at her and she just smiled and waved. What a ham!

I can not believe our little girl is ONE already. Man, does time fly.

Here are a few of the 300 photos or so that were taken for her birthday. We do not love to take her photo or anything do we?!

These two cool cats are inseperable. Aren't they do cute together?

If you didn't think the last photo was cute enough look at this one. Josie does not love him or anything.
