Mushrooms Anyone?!?

Josie has learned a new trade and she is not even two. Who would have thought?! She has become very good at finding mushrooms. Yes, that is right I said mushrooms. Over the weekend, we went mushroom hunting and she loved it. She would put on her hat and walk with us through the woods, that was until she got tired of climbing up hills and wanted you to carry her. But let me just say after all of the walking, she took excellent naps. When a mushroom would be found, she would get all excited. Here are a few photos of our little mushroom hunter. Maybe next year, she will find a record breaking 'shroom. The photos are with the mushrooms that were found in our backyard.

"Baby" Doll

Josie started feeling ill this weekend. Her tummy hurt her and she just was not feeling like herself. She kept stating "baby," that is what she calls other children and her baby doll. We do not let her sleep with anything besides her blankets both at naptime or nighttime, but Brent thought that since she did not feel well it would be ok. She really wanted her "baby," so we gave in and let her sleep with it to help her feel better. I think we opened a can-of-worms with this one. Now it is "baby" this and "baby" that. It is so cute however. Now she always has to know where the "baby" is, sleep with her, and carries her around all the time. She will hug, kiss, and rock the baby. It is to cute! She even makes you hug, kiss, and rock the baby.

From Josie's actions with her "baby" doll it makes me feel good that she good around little ones. She is very good with Cousin Presley and does the same actions she does with Presley to her "baby."

Happy Bunny Day!

I hope everyone enjoyed Easter. Things here were a little un-hoppity. I was ill and Josie had a tummy ache. So, we did not venture into church. I know I am a sinner for not going to church, however I think the Lord will forgive me and Josie this time. I do not think he would want me extremely ill in his house making a mess and Josie also.

By mid-afternoon I was feeling marginally acceptable, so we ventured over to Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Terry's house for lunch. Brent enjoyed his Easter dinner, but I did not. I did not feel well enough to eat anything, so I only ate a little. It never fails, it seems as if I am always ill during holiday/special days.

Oh course, we had to dress Josie up in her Easter dress even though she did not get to sport it to church as planned. She looked adorable in it and loved it.

Here are a few photos of Josie in her Easter Dress.

Coloring Easter Eggs

Didn't Josie do an excellent job coloring these eggs?! No, really she did them all by herself.

This week on Wednesday, we decided to color Easter Eggs. I purchased a cool little contraption that allows children to color eggs with no mess. With Josie, I thought heck that is perfect. All you do is simply place the egg in the container, place a few drops of dye in the container, close the lid and push the button. When you press down on the top button it makes the egg spin inside. The more you press down on the button the more the egg spins. When you think the egg looks good you simply just take it out and wallah you have a pretty egg. Josie dyed 11 eggs all by herself. I said 11 because she was playing with one twisting it in her hands and dropped it on the floor and cracked it.

Josie enjoyed watching the eggs change colors from white to pretty colors. As in Josie's words "pretty."

Here are a few photos of Josie coloring her eggs and her final masterpieces.

No Bunny For Josie

Why is it that all children, well most children, are scared of the Easter Bunny? Santa Clause? Is it the big appearance? Funny looking face? Tell me, what is it?

Josie as all of you know this year did not like the "Big Guy in Red." And if you guessed that she did not like the Easter Bunny either you are correct. She was terrified. Had the grip of death on my arm and was crying. Last year, when she was much younger she could not care less, but that was not the case this year. She did not like the bunny one bit. She would not sit on the bunny's lap or even stand by the bunny. Instead, I held her next to the bunny just to get a photo.

Here are a few photos of my little sunshine liking the bunny this year.

Easter Egg Hunts

Josie got to experience the whole Easter Egg hunt thing twice this year. Both times she had a blast finding eggs that was until you know who showed up. If you guessed the Easter Bunny, you were correct! Josie 100% does not like the Easter Bunny in any way shape or form. The bunny does not even have to get close to her and she starts to freak out. All they have to do is come into her sight and off the wall she goes. Anyways, Josie loved running around searching high and low for those brightly colored eggs filled with delicious treats. We went to an Easter Egg hunt last weekend outdoors and one indoors today because it is rainy and gross outside. Of course it was at 10:30 AM, so any Mom would say "Hey, that is right around nap time. What were they thinking?!" Anyways besides being really sleepy, Josie had great fun finding the eggs all by herself. At the beginning she was a little timid. But as soon as she started finding the eggs watch out she was on a mission. A mission to locate the most eggs as she could and that is what she did. She looked high and low. She even got up on her tippy-toes to get eggs that were a little out of her reach and yes, she got it. She was not going to stop until every last egg was located.

From watching her search for these eggs, I have began to notice a little competitive side to her. Let just hope that she was just in tune with the moment and does not get more competitive as she grows up.

Here are a few pictures from our hunts both indoors and outdoors.

Doctors Appointment

Today, we ventured into the doctor's office for Josie's 18 month wellness visit, even though she is officially 19 months old. She brought a smile to all of the nurses faces when she came in greeting all of them with a smiley "hi." She was behaving herself for the nurse, that was until the doctor came in. Usually, she is all happy and plays with him, however today she had not had her nap yet and was tired and did not want to be messed with.

The last time we were in at the doctors was on December 23, 2008. Her measurements were:

Weight - 19 lbs 9 oz - 7%-tile
Height - 30.5 inches - 53%-tile
Head - 45 cm - 25%-tile

Since then she has done a little growing, but not much. I do have to say that she had a growth spurt in her height and it now considered to be tall for her age. So, she is tall and skinny. Here measurements today were:

Weight - 21 lbs 6 oz - 7%-tile
Height - 33 inches - 78%-tile
Head - 45 cm - 13%-tile

Which means that she gained 1 lb 14 oz and grew 2 1/2 inches. Man is she tall now.

Brent and I have decided not be give Josie the chicken-pox shot right now, but just see if she gets it on her own. If she has not the poxes before Kindergarten then we will revisit the issue.

She did get 1 shot today and did excellent! She nurse stuck the needle in and instead of crying or wiggling she just flashed her "the look" of what the heck are you doing to me. Not one tear was shed, not one cry was made. What a big girl!

We will not venture back to the doctors now until she is 2 years old. Yeah, that is right I said 2. She will be 2 in just a matter of 5 more months.

Happy 30th!

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY

JAMIE!

I hope your day is filled with lots of relaxing moments, however with Jake and Presley I am not sure if that is possible or not.

Have a great birthday!

Spring Break Is Here Baby!!!!

SPRING BREAK! SPRING BREAK! YEAH!

I am not excited or anything am I. I, along with lots of other teachers, have been counting down the days since I believe Christmas till Spring Break and it is finally here. Today, was the last day of school before Spring Break! Yeah! I get to enjoy a full week at home. Can you believe it?! One week off of work. I was hoping that the weather was going to be nice all week, but at the sounds of it, it is not going to be very good. I have a pretty eventful week planned for the family here, so there will not be to much of a break for me. We have Josie's doctor appointment, family photos, swim lessons, family dinner, manicure and pedicure (sister's birthday gift), Easter Egg hunt, so it will be relaxing and busy at the same time.

All I can say is that I do not have to get up at 6:30 AM all week and I do not have to go to work.

I guess it is time to start now counting to the end of the school year...oh yeah I have been doing that since Christmas!
