Our Little Pooper!

Tonight, Josie did the unthinkable. What did she do you ask? Brent and I were giving her a bath when my sister Jamie called. I took the call and Brent finished bathing her. Here I am on the phone and I hear this noise and then Brent start laughing and making noise. When I went to check on them I had found out that Josie had pooped in her tub. I thought I was going to die laughing. You know that babies do not poop solid, but liquid. Her bath was just about over and so the water in her tub was up over the tub hammock so she was sitting in the poopy water. Just when we thought we were about done right? This is definitely going in her baby book.
What a little stinker (literately)!

We have a sick puppy...

(This picture was taken in July 2007)
Today, my little Halle is ill, really ill. She had gotten sick this morning in the living room on the carpet. It was pinkish in color, so I thought perhaps it was her dog food. She has been acting not herself since I got her back from my grandparents since Josie was born. She has not been eating well at all and just laying on the couch. Outside is where she spent most of her day. This evening she was barking at the neighbor dog, so I let her in. She came in drank all of the water out of her dish and then within minutes was hiding under the table getting sick. I said something to her and she moved over by the door in the kitchen got sick on the rug and then laid down. When I said something to her about it instead of her normal response to get up and run to a hiding spot she simply walked over to her bed and laid down. I was making dinner at the time and heard her start to cry, which is not like her so it made me know that she was not feeling well. I went to check on her and I knew something was wrong. She was laying on her side, breathing very heavily, and staring out into space. When I said her name she would not even move. Not even her ears. She would not even blink or follow your finger in front of her face. When I went to pick her up she was like a cooked noodle all limp and such.
I quickly took her to the vet where she continued to get sick and had diarrhea. The diagnosis was for starters: she was severely dehydrated (she always has water in her bowl), low blood sugar, and a bacterial infection (from who knows where). They pumped her full of fluids, gave her meds to make her stop getting sick and go to the bathroom. I have meds for the infections and special dog food to get her to eat.
Overall, I hope she starts to feel well. If she doesn't it is something much more detailed. Such as a liver or kidney problem, but lets not get into that.

Party Animals!

(I guess we were boring to Josie or something. Or maybe she just really did not like the song they were playing.)

What have I been doing all weekend not to post? Sorry, to all of you for not posting anything lately, I guess I have been busy or something.

On Saturday, Brent, Josie, and I attended Derek and Steph's wedding. We were scared Josie was going to cry during the ceremony and embarrass us, but much to our surprise she slept through the entire thing without making even the slightest sound. We were so proud of her! I guess I had a part in that I made sure that her little tummy was full to the max before we went. She was such the little angel all night long. She is sure the party animal now, so in November we are venturing to yet another wedding with her. This time it will be in Chicago! Our first mini vacation as a family. YEAH!

Enjoy these photos of our night.

Mommy's Little Helper

Since today was Brent's 27th birthday what better thing to do than make him a birthday cake. After much discussion, Josie convinced me to let her help. Here are a few pictures of our fun filled day!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

(Josie is sporting a "Daddy is my Hero!" onesie!)
Today, Brent turns the big 27 years old. Happy Birthday Brent! On his birthday, poor guy he has to work. This really upset Josie to no end. She wined most of the day for her Daddy to get home, so that she could party with him on his special day.
I informed Brent last night that he was going to be rudely disappointed with his birthday gifts this year. He told me while he was holding Josie "That is alright! I already have my present in my arms and there is nothing else in this world that I would want." This just about made me cry. Brent is the perfect Dad and loves every minute he has with her. On Monday, he worked then had school, so he was not able to see her until around 9 PM. This really upset him. By the time he had got home she was already in bed. I thought he was going to cry! He said, "This sucks I did not even get to see her today and even hold her."
Happy Birthday Brent!

(Josie is sad that her Daddy could not spend his birthday with his little princess and she sure let me know.)

Who's The Boss???

As you can see Josie is sporting a "Who's The Boss??" onesie. It was only appropriate to have her wear this and take her photo in it. So, who do you think is the boss in this household? If you answered Josie, you are correct! She has taken over the reigns and is officially in charge whether we want her to be or not. She calls all the shots. Whatever she wants she gets no questions asked. Boy, are we in trouble in the future.

To Cute!

(Picture taken 5 weeks ago)
We have nothing new to update all of you on. It looks like a boring week ahead, but as I promise here is a new online photo. I love this photo! It was taken right after she ate her lunch. It just cracks me up. She is resting her precious little hand on her full tummy.

Isn't She Perfect?!

I know my opinion is biased due to her being my child, but isn't she the cutest thing that you have ever seen. She is getting to be such a big girl. Today, Sunday October 21st she is 7 weeks old. She is beginning to talk to us more and more. She makes all of these really cute noises and is starting to smile occasionally. Wow, do they grow up fast.

The Little Party Animal!

(Josie pictured with Great Cousin Mandy)

Little Miss Josie was the center of attention, well she is always the center of attention but that is besides the point, on Saturday. Grandma Debbie was kind enough to through Josie and I a baby shower. Thanks Grandma Debbie! Josie got lots of cool, new and exciting gifts, which we are extremely thankful for. So, all who was a part of putting together this shower thank you. And also a big thank you to all of you for the gifts. God has truly blest us!

The theme of the shower was rubber ducky. So, thanks to Aunt Kendra for making the cake. Sorry, Kendra that no one actually ate the cake, but everyone thought it was to cute to cut, let alone eat.

Where Did Josie Go?

Josie, oh Josie where did you go? I can not find you. Oh, there you are! What do you have on?
Today, Josie is sporting some good old camouflage. Grandpa Dave was coming over to visit and since he is a big hunter we thought what better thing to wear for Grandpa than some camouflage. He loved it! He thought I was the cutest little girl future hunter that he ever did see. But I hate to break it to him, I do not know if she will be hunting the things that he wants her to. What do you mean? I mean that I do not know if she will be hunting for deer or turkeys, but for shoes and clothes. Who knows? She can do whatever her little heart desires.

Well...Josie Did Not Just Hit Me One More Time, But Two Times

Our little Sunshine is growing up so fast. She did not just sleep through the night on Monday night, but also on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. Can you believe that?! It was just the other night that she was up every 3 hours and now she is sleeping 6-8 hours at once at night. This is just crazy. This simply means that she is getting her days and her nights back the way they should be. You would think that I would be ecstatic to have her sleep through the night, which I am, but I am also very sad. That means no more late night feedings, no more late night rocking in the rocking chair, no cuddling on the couch to sleep with her. Well, at least not the last 3 nights. This means that she is growing up already. I do not want her to grow up, but to stay little forever. Brent just simply laughs at me when I say that. He says she has to grow up sometime, because they can not stay little forever. And once she is bigger we can have another to make me feel even older than what I am. She will be 7 weeks old on Sunday. I think I am going to cry.

Hit Me Josie One More Time!

Mark your calendars everyone, last night marked a day I will never forget. Little Miss Josie slept wonderfully in her own be. Why am I so excited you ask about her sleeping in her own bed, well let me tell you. We have been working the last few days to get her on a sleep schedule and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. These schedule is just to help her get her days and her nights back how they should be. We have a small routine that we do. It is bath, clean diaper, pj's, eat, rock, then bed. It has been working pretty good. Usually she wakes up after a few minutes in her crib and cries (well whines).

Last night, our routine did not go as scheduled because she was already sleeping in my arms really good that I did not want to wake her to do it. However, when she woke we did it. Down in her crib she went at 10:45 PM. At 11 PM she started to cry (whine) and by 11:15 she had stopped. So of course I had to check on her. She was asleep. Yes! When Brent got up at #:15 AM to get ready for work, I had him check on her. He said she was tossing her head back and forth which is usually a sign that she is waking up, so I simply just laid in bed waiting for her to start crying, but no go. So, back to sleep I went and so did she. She slept from then on until 5:30 AM. That is 6 HOURS! She ate her early morning breakfast and then back to bed she went with no complaints. She slept then from 6 AM to 10 AM. That it 4 HOURS! So, lets just say we are both well rested today and are feeling good.

Lets hope tonight goes as good as last night. I am so proud of her!

Go Bears!

(Isn't she the cutest Bears fan you have ever seen?)

What kind of Mom would I be if my little sunshine did not sport the families football team apparel. I had purchased her some pink Bears apparel, but was not satisfied by them. Then, I decided it does not matter if she wears the pink, she is rooting for the family team and girls can wear the navy and orange. So, we got rid of the pink and in with the orange we went. I am so much happier now and she looks even cuter than before.

I have to say that last night was a great night...sleep wise. Josie slept from 2-7 AM and then from 8-11 AM in her crib on her own without crying. It was a night from heaven! Way to go Josie! Lets just pray that tonight is just like last night.

Becoming an outdoorsman!

Dear Uncle Blake and Aunt Kendra brought Josie this cute little onesie. Isn't it adorable? It is a little big right now, but she will grow into it very fast. Brent will have her be out fishing with him as soon as possible. I bet this Spring she will.

(Josie and her little tongue fetish. She simply can not leave it in her mouth.)

Cold Yucky Days!

All of you know that I HATE cold weather and that is what is right around the corner. Yuck! I would love anything more than for it to be sunny and 80 degrees year round. That is why when I retire I am heading south for the winters. This is nothing new to Brent. He knows how I feel about cold weather.

I have a feeling that Josie is going to be just like me and hate it also. All week, all we have been doing is laying on the couch or in bed wrapped up under the covers cuddling to stay warm. It is not even that cold yet, but just the thought makes me cringe. We even had a fire in the fireplace the other day to stay warm. It was nice to be cuddled up by a warm fire. How I miss that, but I was warm.

Josie spent most of her morning today wrapped up under the covers sleeping in her beloved swing. This little nap allowed Mom to post here on the blog, eat some lunch, and do some bills and that is all.

Josie is A OK

Some of you may or may not know, Little Miss Josie had a minor health issue during the last few weeks. She would probably kill me when she is older for telling all of you, but what kind of Mom would I be if she doesn't get mad at me when she gets older (right?). I guess to put it nicely she had a little issue with her tummy. Not that any of you want to know or not. It was nothing serious. The diagnosis was extra iron in her diet. How? I do not know. Yes, she is nursing so what was I eating or doing was beyond me. I did not change anything. It simply broke my heart to hear that it was because of me that made her not feel very well.

She is better! So there is no need to stress, like I did.

Move over Mommy!

Our little Chunky Monkey has to be growing through a growth spurt. They say babies go through their first one between 3-6 weeks. Why you ask? Well, for the last 3 days it seem like all she wants to do is nurse. Every hour and a half to 2 hours, she wants to eat. Sometimes I feel like she is permanently connected to me.

Well, last night she nursed before we left Grandma Debbie's house for about 20 minutes, but I guess she was not full yet. When we got home she was acting rather hungry still. How could she be hungry was beyond me. She tends to get like this because if she falls asleep she is done nursing, even if she is not. Then she wakes up and wants to finish eating. Brent gave her a bottle then while I got myself ready for bed. She sucked down a 3.5 ounce bottle like it was nothing.

After I was done doing my night time routine of brushing my teeth and such I went into the bedroom to find this:

She had taken my spot in the bed! I don't think so. She was wide awake and doing good it was sad to put her to bed but it was 12 and I was tired. So, since she was proved she can sleep in her own bed, that is were she went.

All dressed up for a night on the town!

Last night, Josie got all dressed up for a night at out on the town. Well, it was not that big of a night. We ventured up to the local Fire Department for their annual Open House. Of course, we had to go to see dear Uncle Bryant all dressed up in his gear. We enjoyed free food, watching children take pony rides (I think Josie was a little to little to ride), watch children take fire truck rides (also to little), watch a jaws-of-life demonstration, and visit with local towns people. It was a great night.
While we were at the Open House, they actually had a fire call. Who would think it? I did. Earlier in the night I stated to Brent "wouldn't it be funny if they had a fire call and all had to leave." And guess what they did.

At the beginning of the night a lady came up to me to take a look at my gorgeous baby girl. She was holding a baby herself. She introduced me to the baby which she said was her niece. She was 3 months old and tiny, she was a preemie. Well anyways, later on in the evening we were enjoying our hot dogs and soda when I looked down at the next table where at one point that family with all of their children were sitting. The infants car seat was on the table and there was no one in site around the table. I did not think anything of it, I just thought the whole clan went to ride the ponies. That was until about 5 minutes later out of the corner of my eye I say the car seat rocking a little. That 3-month old was in the chair kicking her feet to make the chair rock, not strapped in and no one there watching her. WHAT? What type of people would do that? Bad ones. I informed Brent and he could not believe it. He thought the lady at another table was watching her. I told him no I think she is just concerned like this new Mom. I asked Brent if he thought they would even notice if I took the child into the other room where they did not know where she was. He said they would probably not even notice. I have no clue if that little girl was there with her mom or if her Aunt was watching her. Well, suppose to be watching her. About 15 minutes later, the Aunt came back and I heard her say "oh we forgot about you." These types of people should not have children, EVER. I feel sorry for that little one and the life with that family she has to grow up with. I really wish a cop would have been there and I would have informed the cop about the neglect this child was getting.

I slept in my own bed!

Saturday night marked a very happy night here at our house. Little Miss Josie slept in her own bed during the night time hours. She has not done that in weeks. Remember, we have to hold her for her to sleep and when you try to put her down she would wake up and cry. But not Saturday. It was wonderful! I forgot how good it is to sleep in my own bed and not on the couch. Not only did she sleep in her own bed, but she also slept from 12 to 5:30. ROCK ON!

Halloween will soon be here

(This is one of Josie's hospital photos.)

It is now officially October, which means so is fall. That means soon it will be Halloween. I am not the big Halloween fan, but now that Josie is her I am going to love dressing her up in cute costumes every year. Living were we do, we have no Trick-or-Treaters, so it will be easy for us to enjoy the evening.

Do you know what you are going to be this year? We know what Josie is going to be, but we are not telling. Let me just say how hard it is to find a costume to fit what will be then 8 weeks old. Everything is just way to big for her now and then. Unless you are older than 6 months old or want to be the boring old pumpkin. Not us.

So with the help of Great Grandma Grace we will have the best costume in town. Check back with us at the end of the month for the magical uncovering of...

(Doesn't that just drive you crazy how I won't tell you!)

How The Time Flies!

(Josie is wearing a onesie that states "what baby wants baby gets" with a pacifier that Mommy HATES)
Boy, oh boy how the time flies by! Our little Josie is ONE MONTH old today. It is hard to believe that one month ago I was in the hospital giving birth to our beautiful baby girl. At that very moment in time, Brent and I's lives officially changed forever. And I must say for the BETTER! We would not change a thing, well except for a little more sleep at night, but that will come with time.

So much has happened within the past month, even though it may not seem like it. For instance, Josie has learned that if she cries bloody murder at night time that she will get to sleep with Mommy on the couch (which she does every night and loves to sleep on Mommy's tummy), gets her way at whatever she wants (she is not spoiled or anything), learned to pull Daddy's chest hair (and he loves that let me tell you), she suckered Daddy into giving her a pacifier (which Mommy hates), loves to sleep on her tummy (which you are not suppose to allow them to do), gets so worked up on the floor during tummy-time that she can wiggle herself off of her blanket (man before long she will me crawling she wiggles so much), and so much more.

People always say "enjoy them when they are little they grow up so fast." Let me tell you first hand that I now officially now the true meaning of that and yes in fact they ultimately do.
