Last night, I got this feeling about a spider that I encountered. Spiders don't really frighten me that much, but it all depends. If they are large or hairy or things like that there is now way I am getting close enough to kill it. Ok, back to the story at hand. I have been doing some major cleaning of the house this summer. You the whole major Spring cleaning type of a thing. Well, with being in school and such Spring came and went and the house was still not clean. So, I have changed the name around our house to Summer cleaning. I had cleaned out the storage room, because it really needed it and found that after Christmas I placed lots of decorations in the storage room instead of the Christmas tubs in the barn. So, I decided that I was going to go up in the barn on the balcony and combine those tubs that way all of the items I had in the basement I could just put in one empty tub and not have to take things outside item by item and find a tub that had space. That was until I encountered this:
Ok, some of you might just think that it is a spider. Big deal, right?! Well, it was a BIG deal, because the spider really is HUGE. I did not want to get that close to it because it was so large who knows how far it could jump. When I saw this HUGE spider by the steps to the balcony, I knew that my plans of putting things away today were gone. I rushed out of the barn in a flash and went and got Brent who as I stated before can not stand spiders. I have to kill all of the spiders in the house because he does not like them. I knew he would get that pee in your pants feeling, but I had to show him or else he would not believe me. He stopped dead in his tracks and froze when I showed him this ENORMOUS spider. The picture does not do it justice at all. But it is about 3 inches in length and HUGE. It is sitting on a 2 x 4 trim board in the barn. So, we estimate since the legs do not touch the bottom that it is about 3 inches long.
I made Brent go through a little therapy and spray the spider with some insect killer. There was now way either one of us was going to get that close to it with our shoe to kill it. No way! Brent did kill it thank god. Well, at least we hope it is dead. Why wouldn't I kill it you ask? Well, the day before I encountered a baby mole hiding in the grass making its way around the yard. Moles remind me of mice and I hate that. To make a long story short, Brent killed it for me however he made me dispose of the dead rodent. Talk about being scared. I do not like small rodents dead or alive.
All of this huge spider thing really got us thinking. How many other large spiders like that are in the barn? Lets just say I will not be entering that barn for a while to find out.
