Ok, I have lots of things planned to post about over our Christmas break however, today's post trumps them all. As all of you know, my extreme fear of mice. We have caught over 5 mice this winter so far and that number keeps rising. It has been over a month since we have had any evidence of a mouse until the other day. Brent was gone doing who knows what when Josie had to use the bathroom. We both ran to the bathroom upstairs, she did her thing and were getting ready to depart out of the restroom when I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye run across the hallway. I thought to myself, no my mind is playing tricks on me. However, that was until Josie came running back into the bathroom with huge eyes, climbing up on my lap, gripping on for dear life, and stating "Mommy what's that?" At that point, I knew I was not just seeing things, but she had also. I told Brent and at first he did not believe me. He said that if they are upstairs we have a problem trying to find them. Well, I believe some evidence was left in the upstairs bathroom and can you believe this Josie's room. Really freaking out now. Brent made a diagnosis that it very well could be. This is completely unacceptable. Especially in my little girls bedroom. We have caught the majority of them directly below Josie's room and the bathroom in the basement, but now they are going upstairs. AHHHHHH! Where are they coming from? And how to get rid of all of the them?
So, we decided some traps will have to go back out again. Last night, we were cleaning up the disaster of a house we had and in the basement one of the traps Brent forgot was still out had one caught in it! YES! Another one of those bad boys gone. Sigh of relief.
Now, here comes the heart attack I had. It was around midnight last night and Brent and I were getting ready for bed when I reminded him of the traps. I went upstairs while he got the traps to reset. I had done some dishes earlier in the night and had left the sink full of water what way before I went to bed I could quickly wash the cup and such we used since doing the dishes. I went over to the sink and was just about to put my hands in the water when I saw a ripple go across the water. I paused for a second. Hands not in the water yet and was like what on earth. Just then the little varmint popped up from under the water and was swimming around in my sink. I just about died that very second. Oh, course I screamed and Brent came running. The words could hardly come out of my mouth because I was just seconds away from putting my hands in the water. What if I would have left my dishes for the morning and the mouse died in it and I did not find it until I emptied out the water?! FREAK OUT! Brent at first did not believe me, but after walking over to the sink his response was "well all be he is in the sink." Well, no @&*! he is in the sink or else I would not have said he was in the sink. Brent finished the job by making sure he drowned and then took him outside instead of tossing him in the trash to make sure that he was 100% dead. If he was not fully dead he would sure enough freeze to death down being wet. Good I say!
Where are they coming from? And when will my nightmare of a mouse infested house end? God please help me!
