Donation Day at the Zoo

Who can say Summer without a trip to the local zoo!?!

Jamie and I decided to take the kids to the local zoo. It was Donation Day, meaning that you get in for free and that they were accepting donations for admission. Of course, everyone else had the same idea we did, but it was worth it. We got to the zoo when it was first openning at 10 AM, thinking that perhaps people would come after lunch at it may not be so crowded at the beginnning. Well, it was crowded, but not to bad. We went in the opposite direction as everyone else at the beginning.

The kids loved the zoo, especially Ogdan. All he did was stare at all the animals and talk my ear off telling me about them. He would point to them and yell "Mama, Mama" just to make sure that I was seeing the same thing that he was. It was really cute! We saw rhinos, zebras, giraffes, peacocks, lions, tigers, monkeys, frogs, turtles, and several other animals. I know admission goes to paying for the animals, but regular admission was $8.50 per person and let me just say in my sister and I's opinion it was not worth no $8.50 per person. I was glad we went on Donation Day!

It was a little hot. The air was not moving and one time, I just about went down. We were standing looking at the lions and I broke into a sweat all over. My entire body was wet, my shirt was soaking wet (yuck). I knew it was going to be bad if I didn't sit down. So, I started to walk over to the shade to have a rest on a bench when my vision started to blur. Thats what happens right before I pass out. So, I just sat down right where I was in the middle of the walkway. It was better then falling down. Talk about embarrassing, but hey what could I do. After a few minutes and a nice cold drink I was back to normal. Thank goodness!

We stayed for about 2 hours and then off to get lunch we went. We ate a yummy lunch at Monical's Pizza. Josie and Jacob had got free 8 inch pizza coupons from the local library reading program, so we wanted to utilize those also on our day trip. Overall it was a fun filled day!

Here are a few photos of our fun day at the zoo.
